Thanks Covid-19. I'm not allowed into my wife's first scan for our first baby. She's not even allowed to WhatsApp video me.
So I'm just sitting in the car waiting.

But they're giving us pictures for free, which is something I guess.

Edit: I've just been told that I'm also unable to go to the next scan, too.
I'm absolutely heartbroken.

@qu30 Happened to me just today but we were allowed to FT. I’m thankful for that but I didn’t get to listen to the heartbeat or anything

@qu30 Yeah, I feel your pain. We legit had our 20 week scan on the last day they were allowing fathers into the ultrasound room. I felt incredibly lucky, but also incredibly sad for all dads coming after me who wouldn't get to experience that. I'm so sorry man.

Did they say why they wouldn't let you video chat with her? I think that's stupid they won't let her, especially if she is the one doing it.

@billiejo Well, I was venting to my boss. He says it's standard practice, protection of nurses' employment rights and stuff like that.
I'd have thought that the nurse might have let it slide... Given the circumstances. Just to get the partner involved

@qu30 I was allowed to video chat my wife while she did her second scan last week, so there certainly are some clinics that allow it.

@qu30 Sorry to hear that. I was at the first scan but I wont be able to go to any more. I hope you will be allowed in for the birth. In some places that is limited to just the doctors and nurses.

@jomo17555 It's my absolute fear. But that isn't until late October, so hopefully it'll all be good by then.

@qu30 Thanks. We are due in July. They said that I can go in to delivery but my gf's mom won't be able to go in...we were counting on her because she is a nurse. And I'll need to be prepared to stay in with them the whole time.

@jomo17555 Many hospitals are also allowing one guest as long as they consent to screening or have self isolated for a period of time. Policies of course vary hospital to hospital.

@qu30 Similar to me as well. I wasn’t allowed for the first doctors visit but they are letting me come to the second one thankfully. Hopefully it all doesn’t get worse or I won’t be able to do the ultrasound

@qu30 I'm in the same boat here too man, my wife and I went to our last ultrasound (second one) and were all gung ho to get to see our little bean again. As soon as we got in there were signs posted all over the doors saying I wasn't allowed in. Heartbroken. Our next one is on the 27th and we should get to find out gender, I wont be in for that one either.

@klum787 I told my wife, if I can't go in for the gender scan, then she has to ask the nurse to write it down. Because so far I'm finding everything out after my wife. I want to have SOMETHING that we find out together.

@qu30 We already talked about that too, and shes on board for it. I'm hoping this thing blows over by September when shes due. If not, hopefully they allow me in for the birth. Who knows how strict things will be by then.
