@emmy0922 I didn't bed share with my parents as an infant, yet as soon as I could walk, I would walk into their room and sleep in their bed each night, I think until the age of around 5. The same has happened with my niece - they did not bed share with her, but she now walks into their room and climbs into their bed each night. I agree that it's not damaging your baby, but I think whether or not it creates dependent sleepers will depend on the child.
@sharkdive1 I think the key skill that both you and your niece learned was how to fall asleep independently in the first place. Whereas with my daughter and many kids I know, they didn’t learn to fall asleep independently and relied on nursing or contact. Therefore they had to learn to just lay down and close their eyes. That’s the “self soothing” part.
