I delivered my 3rd baby two weeks ago. This is my first experience with hemorrhoids. Is it normal to feel like I’m shitting razor blades?? The extra strength Preparation H is only for external use but I need help on the inside. How do I even treat this? Can I do an enema? I feel like I need an enema. Please help

@gail2292 I had this or anal fissures, maybe that’s what you’ve got going on if it feels really internally. I did a lot of sitz baths whenever I could because they provided some relief. Sending healing vibes mama!

@jcd1284 I wrote this to OP but I’m going to share with you too because I describes it this way as well and maybe this can help you!

I had that and thought it was a hemorrhoid too. I spent the first month after birth crying at every bowel movement and would be in pain for hours afterward. I went to see a colorectal surgeon and turns out it was an anal fissure! They gave me a topical for it and I actually just had my checkup today and it’s completely gone now! It has been such a relief because the pain was horrible.

@jcd1284 I would go straight to a specialist! I went to my OB and my GP and neither of them could help me. Once I went to a colorectal surgeon things started to get better!!

@gail2292 Water water water water water and when you think you can't drink anymore water, drink more water lol.

And yea, go to GP cos I also had to get cream. Its find now though at 7m pp

@gail2292 I had an anal fissure postpartum and a hemorrhoid during pregnancy. Both SUCK. The hemorrhoid I treated with Aquaphor 2-3x per day, used only wet wipes when I wiped, and tucks medicated pads before applying the Aquaphor with a qtip.

Anal fissures are very very common postpartum, as most people can get them from just pushing too hard. I had one and they last for a long time. I would treat similarly as above but if still bad, go see a GI for a cream that will help heal it quickly. Also as some mentioned, sitz baths were nice too!

@gail2292 Get a prescription for internal cream from your GI specialist or OB if they'll prescribe it. Take 2 warm Epsom salt baths a day and sue tucks pads after every BM. I've had some painful ones in the beginning of pregnancy...all internal too. The cream and tucks helped. Also try stool softener like colace

@gail2292 Thought I had hemmorhoids too…. Turned out it was an anal fissure which can be treated differently. Don’t wait to have it checked out!!! I was miserable for months and finally went to the doctor and got immediate relief.

@gail2292 I had these and they are the WORST. Literally worse than my 18 hour unmedicated labor. lol

Honestly, I lived off of lidocaine spray and stool softeners. I also used PrepH everyday. They eventually went away...but take the stool softeners!

@gail2292 Sitz baths, prep h…vaseline before poops. a lot of fibrous foods, Metamucil and PRUNES. Honestly mine subsided 4months in. Maybe get a squatty potty too
