@helpme15 That's exactly my point. This attitude will not encourage a kid to talk to you about whatever is on their mind. If my kid has questions about drugs I want them to ask me, not their moronic stoner classmate.
@blubberflub So, do you provide them access to drugs as well as porn? So they will “talk to you about it”? Do you allow them access to matches at an early age too? Probably not. So why the double standard w/r/t porn. Porn has tons of bigotry, masochism, sexism, hate… and it is everywhere on the internet.
@helpme15 Can we stop this idiotic strawman argument? It's a fact that you can't control what your kids are exposed to. I'm not planning to showing anything inappropriate to my kid but I'm also not going to bury my head in the sand and pretend things don't exist. There's a huge difference between a kid knowing drugs exist and being enabled to use them.
@unclet Yes, they should be safe to explore without stumbling upon horrific pornography. Don’t be naive. There is nothing safe about an unfiltered internet.
@knowledgeableindividual Cat noir cafe and the kiss are really famous art works! /posters i wonder was she looking them up? Every second person had either one in college... I know she's only 9.5 but maybe she. Saw them. Somewhere?
@knowledgeableindividual Oh gods I remember when I discovered my mom could see the search history. It was the most embarrassing thing in the world. Probably because my mom handled it a lot worse, and ended up telling what I searched for out loud at a family gathering, because she thought it was funny.
@knowledgeableindividual My son just turned 8 and has done pretty much the same thing We had a huge meltdown trying to get him to admit that he was the one who typed “your mom” into the search bar at school. He tried to say that his friend got into his computer, and then he said it was an accident…I kept telling him it’s ok to make mistakes, and the best thing is to be honest about it. He also had a huge crush on Ladybug when he was younger. It was adorable.
@knowledgeableindividual I'm so happy she felt comfortable having this conversation with you. And to be fair, the whole Miraculous show is built around whether or not Lady Bug and Cat Noir will eventually realize they love each other. It's a big deal!
@knowledgeableindividual The way you handled that was beautiful. I am so thankful that there is a generation of kids growing up without shame around sex and desire.
@knowledgeableindividual I’m honestly so happy to be a part of a generation of parents that isn’t shaming our girls for coming into their sexuality! I think of all the things I was told as I developed and how taboo a girl growing up was and am preparing myself for conversations like these that normalize girls bodies and feelings. It’s always heartwarming to see open conversations between parents and thier kiddos!!
