Non-plastic-y, educational mobiles?

Caveat, I might be overthinking this one:

I want to get a mobile to entertain my 7 week old. We have a simple one I made with Pom-poms, which he loves, and he will watch it spin for 10 minutes at a time. I am hoping to get one with a motor that spins itself (and maybe plays music?) so I can keep him occupied while I take a shower or something. The problem is, all the musical mobiles I see on Amazon are extremely loud, busy, and often cheap looking. I want something that is simple, but has a motor. I’d prefer not to add to the pile of plastic baby gear in the world.

Any recommendations? Anyone make one themselves?

@camille3 Check out your local kids consignment store. The one near me has lots of mobiles to choose from, and then you wouldn’t be contributing to more plastic!

@debbiebayne This is probably the best suggestion, but my closest consignment store is a 45 minute drive, and scheduling that with the newborn feels like a lot. As a result I’ve become over dependent on Amazon!

@camille3 have you looked at what Etsy has to offer?
you can purchase little wind up/motorized music boxes with hooks to attach mobiles to. you could attach a nice mobile from Etsy to it. I like the kinetic ones or the little animals.
