You shouldn't use bad words if you don't fully know what they mean and why they're bad. Part of demonstrating that you fully understand the word is by knowing when NOT to use it.
The N-word is something that no non-African American will ever fully understand the harm of, because to understand the harm is to be born into generations of trauma and exploitation that is still endemic to our society today. As non-black people, we can never fully recognize the weight that word can have on the heart.
