Frustrated, so mostly venting

@xpectsuccess It depends a lot on your care provider and insurance in the US.

My OB confirms pregnancy around 8 weeks with blood test & you have your kind of introductory appt where they talk about what to expect, what your future appts will look like and they go over cost of care & insurance. Around 12 weeks is sono 1 to date the pregnancy, around 20 weeks is sono 2 to check anatomy, and I believe a final sono around 30 weeks to observe growth.

American healthcare can be bad, but it's kind of dependent on your insurance and care providers.
I pay a premium for my insurance and go to the same OB office as my friend who had free healthcare during pregnancy, so it's not just for "rich people".
