We offer 2yo 11 hours sleep every 24h, but he has big split nights still. Is offering less really the way to go? He’s always tired!

@tavott Have you tried dropping the nap altogether? What happens at night if he doesn’t nap?

    $h!tting on other people's happiness

@concretecamper Did you post on the main parenting sub? I find a lot of people on there to be really toxic. I don’t go there. This sub and r/toddlers seem to be pretty supportive overall. Btw, my son was like your baby at 7m. He’s now 3.5 and while he does have his toddler moments, he is still...

How Can We Make r/sleeptrain A Better Sub for Sleepy Parents?

@shiftybroccoli Some people can be a little condescending to new parents who have never sleep trained. Maybe a rule about how to respond kindly?

I am team crib til college. Change my mind

@neverbeenalone We kept our oldest in until his 3rd birthday. He was starting to get too long, so we switched to a big bed. It was definitely difficult to switch and I would have kept him in longer if I could have. Our youngest is 2.5 and he’s shorter than his brother, so I hope we can keep him...

My toddler doesn’t sleep well - he fell asleep tonight at 11pm and I feel so bad :(

@james_1991 I think that’s the key. They’re letting the toddler control bedtime. They need to set boundaries and say no to iPads, snacks and stalling.

Can’t have a third kid :( please remind me why it’s ok?

@ztalbott I read an article once (I wish I could find it for you) about a study that was done where they interviewed people with 1, 2, 3 and 4 kids. People with 3 kids were the most unhappy. The authors theorized it was because one kid always felt like they were left out. (I’m not bashing anyone...

Just found out husband of nearly 7 years has had an affair - we have a 3.5y/o and a 17m/o

@renegadelegion Don’t feel stupid. You didn’t do anything wrong (he did) and I don’t blame you for wanting to try to keep your family together, either. Counseling may be a good idea to see if you can figure out whether you can trust him again. If you can’t, it may be better to cut your losses...

Just found out husband of nearly 7 years has had an affair - we have a 3.5y/o and a 17m/o

@renegadelegion I guess the big question is, can you ever trust him not to do it again? This relationship may be over, will it always be at the back of your mind that he’s cheating with somebody else?

My 2.5 year old is a DICTATOR and it’s hurting our relationship

@onlyjesus316 That’s too bad. I found that they just dimmed the noise a little. Maybe you need something more like noise canceling headphones.

My 2.5 year old is a DICTATOR and it’s hurting our relationship

@onlyjesus316 Have you tried using earplugs? Loop earplugs make ones that block some, but not all sound. I find they really help me feel less overwhelmed by tantrums and screaming if it’s not so loud.

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@billyli There is evidence that time spent in a daycare or school environment isn’t beneficial to most kids until the age of 3 (or even later for some kids). Up until that age, kids don’t need to socialize. They don’t really play together until they’re older. They do need a close and nurturing...

Symptomatic bacterial strep throat in toddler: antibiotics?

@iowakid8401 My little brother had it when he was 3 (I was 6). I remember my mom being so afraid. She’s even a nurse, but didn’t realize he had strep before it became scarlet fever. She thought it was just a bad cold.

Symptomatic bacterial strep throat in toddler: antibiotics?

@orthodoxjay1 Untreated strep throat can lead to scarlet fever. Most people don’t get scarlet fever anymore because antibiotics are used to treat strep throat before it turns into scarlet fever. Edit: left untreated, scarlet fever can be deadly. It’s much easier to treat strep throat with a...

I was led to believe he completed the second check after vasectomy, I am now 5 days late

@sweetiicake Yes. He had to wait a certain number of weeks( I can’t remember how many….I think 6 or 8) and then he could get tested. I was on a birth control implant, so he waited around 4 months. He did the test and the said he was all set. They told him he only needed a second test if the...

I was led to believe he completed the second check after vasectomy, I am now 5 days late

@bblack4jc I was wondering the same thing, but I think it’s fine. If he was clear, why would a second test be necessary?

Hand Foot Mouth Disease Timeline HFMD 3 and 1 year old

@samuelcox003 Mine did too. After all the skin peeled off my hands and feet, I still had some tingling where the biggest spots were. Then I lost my nails. My husband got it as a kid and didn’t get sick at all.

Hand Foot Mouth Disease Timeline HFMD 3 and 1 year old

@samuelcox003 I’m a teacher, so I had heard of it, but I didn’t think too much of it. Kids get sick all the time. I wasn’t prepared for how awful it was.

Hand Foot Mouth Disease Timeline HFMD 3 and 1 year old

@shstlws01 I feel like HFM was something I wasn’t prepared for as a parent. My kids and I had it last summer. My kids had a mild/moderate case, but I had a really severe one. It was the worst I’ve ever felt, including when I had COVID, the flu and a c-section.

Refusing to sit on the potty after a pretty successful 3 days

@jwd Thank you, this has me feeling better. My son is 3.5 and has just been flat out refusing to use the potty at all. We have tried lots of different methods, but he just doesn’t want to. I’ve backed off, and have just kind of been letting it go for a while. I just don’t understand how I’m...
