WHY is my body expelling perfect babies? Devastated

@daprophecy In my experience, you would be referred for at least one cervical length scan because of the septum. If your miscarriages were early (i.e. the baby stopped growing before 12 weeks), then they don't affect your risk of having a short cervix. It's worth discussing this with your doctor!

WHY is my body expelling perfect babies? Devastated

@fayequinn There was a lot of new data at the conference so hopefully it will all be published soon! The hypothesis is that as the cervix thins and dilates in labour, it becomes more likely to be physically damaged during the C-section. So the risk increases as one gets closer to fully...

WHY is my body expelling perfect babies? Devastated

@fayequinn The chance of having the baby at term is still much higher than having a late miscarriage or preterm birth after a C section in labour. Here's the link to study from last year which shows the link to preterm birth specifically for c section when you're fully dilated (10 cm)...

WHY is my body expelling perfect babies? Devastated

@lostsheep75 Did you have a C-section or vaginal birth with your first? C-sections in labour increase the risk of second trimester loss (this is something that is being researched intensively by obstetricians). If you had a vaginal birth, sometimes there are tears in the cervix that are not...

WHY is my body expelling perfect babies? Devastated

@lostsheep75 I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. Pregnancy loss in the second trimester is rarely due to chromosomal abnormalities. Rather, they tend to be because of infection, or because the cervix has weakened. This could be because of previous surgery on your cervix or even damage to your...

    Sex after birth

@deamy Your sex drive is what it is, and there's nothing wrong with it. Lots of women feel "touched out" from the baby and don't want to be touched for quite some time. From a physical side, have a look and check that your vulva and vagina have healed. Occasionally tears heal poorly and can...

What vitamins to take while waiting?

@ninaua Those doses are safe for everyday use. Folic acid is water-soluble so you'll pee out any excess. Vitamin D is fat-soluble, but it's a small dose compared to what a lot of people take daily. I've personally been taking a prenatal since April 2023 (our TTC date got pushed back a couple of...

What vitamins to take while waiting?

@ninaua In the UK, we're recommended to take 400 micrograms of folic acid (or 5 mg if you have certain medical conditions) and 10 micrograms of vitamin D starting 3 months before conception. I just go to the drugstore and look at the ingredients, then pick the cheapest option! If you're in the...

    Semen Analysis Results are confusing

@saralynn1 If you go by the WHO normal ranges, everything is normal except for the semen volume. The number of sperm with normal morphology might seem low at 9% but it's still more than 25% of all men who get their partner pregnant within a year, which is how the WHO figures out the normal...
