One and done with an easy pregnancy and easy (so far) baby?

@breanne My son was easy going too. I distinctly remember patting myself on the back for how easy 2 was. Then he turned 3 😂 A day will come, many days in fact, where you thank the high heavens you’re only dealing with one. Learn to enjoy the easy parts my friend.

Another mom told me I have a fat a** today

@sakura656 I would have told her to go fuck herself and proceeded to ignore her until she left, but I’m a former punk ass…

I really don’t know how people cope with even one baby

@jesusmypeace If I may: I never felt guilt from leaving my baby with “strangers” because that never happened. I met and interviewed all caretakers. I got to know the people who cared for him, and they quickly became part of our village.

YES I HAVE SIX KIDS. YES I AM PREGNANT WITH NUMBER SEVEN

@prayter hug Agreed. I'm pregnant with my one-and-done child. Maybe I'll have a second. The "oh but siblings" arguments tend to fall pretty flat with me because I'm only close with 1/3 of my siblings and have experienced massive anxiety for the well-being of 3/5 of them. Plus their medical bills...

YES I HAVE SIX KIDS. YES I AM PREGNANT WITH NUMBER SEVEN

@theend I’m one of 12 too. Personally I would advise against having so many kids because my childhood was shortened by the need to care for younger siblings. I had to be a pseudo adult by age ten. My parents were ill equipped to have so many kids that most of us were neglected and each of us...

OAD because one’s spouse isn’t the right person

@freedom1969 50/50 with young kids often looks like 3 days on/3 days off. If you leave in the same town and near the school/daycare that’s doable.

    Pro-Birth v Pro-Life

@wildflower1113 What has the GOP done to take care of moms and babies, in a way that comes anywhere close to the actual cost and duration of the need?

Should I get bloodwork done to find out the gender Y or N?

@asupersquirrel I did and am glad I did, because I had all these names for a girl and none for a boy. I needed months to figure out what I was going to name him. I also had some gender disappointment - I wasn’t having another - and I appreciated being able to fully process that before the birth.

    Opinions from childless friends

@kimberly3421 We were so lucky to have an au pair the first two years. She knew our son as well as we did and we often brainstormed how to approach things, I respected her opinion even if I may override it. It made it easier that my own mom had died years ago.

Childless friend keeps telling me I’ll regret not having two

@roseforchrist Oh, I meant, her comments on your family size must indicate she’s volunteering to pony up for daycare for your firstborn. A bit catty sorry.

Childless friend keeps telling me I’ll regret not having two

@roseforchrist So she’s volunteering to research, interview, get on the waitlist, and pay for daycare? Ask her that next time she brings this up. Oh and when there’s a COVID scare at the daycare, she’s volunteering to watch your son until the test result comes back and the symptoms subside? The...

I need a safe place to vent regarding the decision to be OAD and my Dr not supporting me fully

@itsmeheathermarie A redditor who had lost a sibling used to comment on oneanddone. The tldr is that siblings are no antidote to the loss of a child, they’re another person in the family who suffers a tremendous loss. I love my son. If he died, nothing would make it ok. And parenting another...

I need a safe place to vent regarding the decision to be OAD and my Dr not supporting me fully

@vash07 Ngl lots of women, married or single, have little patience for the vast number of minimally competent men out there. I love my husband but I wouldn’t sign up for marriage again if, god forbid, something happened to him. If I was you I probably wouldn’t date either.

F.D.A. sets aside June for potential decisions on vaccines for the youngest Americans

@lovejoyhope I hope they feel better soon, it’s so difficult right now. Gentle correction if you’re open to it? The phrase is “all for naught”. As in “all for nothing”.

Childless friend keeps telling me I’ll regret not having two

@leras My son loves all the same girly stuff as me so I’m entirely set. He’s getting a musical jewelry box for his birthday and I know he’s going to love it.

Who here has a mediocre relationship with their sibling(s)?

@reddragon4444 You’re doing the right thing IMO. For us it was adhd, and the reality that I have a disabled adult sibling who needs full time care ++ money.

Are obnoxious colourful plastic toys really that bad?

@sweetascandy1990 If it makes you feel better, BPA at least is only leached at higher temperatures. A room temperature plastic toy isn’t capable of transmitting BPA. Fun fact: store receipts are full of BPA!
