How do night shifts work with a newborn?

@perfectlove25 Depends why you're pumping. If you don't need to build a stash yet or have supply issues I would honestly not pump at all until 6 or 8 weeks. Just sleep and feed on demand/every 3 hours. Double/triple feeding is a real sleep thief and you need every minute you can get. In theory...

    Unfollowed OurSignedWorld

@writergirlrs I was just saying to my mum how I feel guilty for wanting more, I most likely won't due to various reasons but in a perfect world I would. As an only child, THERE IS NO REAL DOWN SIDE TO BEING AN ONLY. Lonely as an adult? So are adults with siblings. Caring for your parent(s)...

Pediatrician ok’d LO be frontward facing for hip seat carrier at 2.5 months and now I’m worried

@jven79 Pediatricians often don't know jack shit about babywearing. but I think it's unlikely you've caused any harm here.

    What should baby be wearing?

@thedream Adult winter long socks are significantly cheaper than baby leg warmers or " babywearing booties" plus act as another layer to keep their feet warm all in one.

    What should baby be wearing?

@chriatopher Honestly. £12 for baby leg warmers or £2 for 2 pairs of socks. The other trick is to put them before putting them in the carrier so they definitely don't fall off 😆

    What should baby be wearing?

@meeee Are you going to wrap your coast around the carrier or not? That will impact it a lot. Today it was below freezing here and I did, regular indoor outfit of long sleeve and thick leggings + all cotton knitted footless onesie, thick baby socks then thick adult winter socks to act as...

    What should baby be wearing?

@meeee Artipoppe carriers rarely fit babies younger than 11-12 weeks. structured carriers are almost never newborn friendly even when they say they are unless they are either specifically designed for newborns, have an insert or your baby is 99th centile for height. You can try them in it and...

Close call this morning but can’t figure out how

@porcelainchild He didn't roll away because he's 9 weeks old, they can't figure out "if I move away, I'll be able to breathe". Sorry this happened to you. Could you possibly move further away when he's done nursing? What do you mean by Japanese style futon? What kind? Could you wait til they are...

Suggestions for short torso 5'3" C-section mom

@mshelia Woven wrap with a waistband free carry. Like a pre-tied kangaroo carry or a FWCC tied under bum.

Are we using the carrier as a crutch?

@sharz It's perfectly natural for them to be like that. We are carrying mammals :) don't fret.

"So WhEn ArE yOu MoViNg HeR tO cErEaL?"

@annlei They were told by professionals that their milk wasn't good enough for babies and that cereal or starting purees early would stop them going hungry. They were doing what they were told was best for baby, the same way we do.

    C curve

@zackuth Yep the spine should be curved but not so much that babies chest is compressed or could end up chin to chest :)

We can’t bed share because my baby is formula fed? Explain

@kolibri My mum co slept with me from 12 days old, born at 3lb 6oz at 30 weeks (planned, it's a long story) she was a single parent and was formula feeding every 2 hours with absolutely no wriggle room on the schedule, she said it was either co sleep or no sleep. You gotta do what it takes to...

"So WhEn ArE yOu MoViNg HeR tO cErEaL?"

@maryam28 Thank you , 😊 the shot thing gives me absolute chills and makes me so angry. And women who didn't get it got absolutely no help or very little help to breastfeed. People act as if older people want to hurt their kids and that honestly makes me so sad. People give a lot of talk about...

    C curve

Hi all, I see a lot of comments talking about the C curve, refering to babies spine/neck shape. I would love it if some other educators could weigh in as I know some still use it. However, I'm currently doing additional training and we've been advised not to use this term and use "curved J...

    Carrier recommendations

@densol They just are a faff, aren't versatile and rarely give an ergonomic seat. If you're breastfeeding they can increase the likelihood of mastitis. Any company that also makes woven wraps will have gorgeous patterns and super soft buckle carriers too, Ergo/Tula are very bulky and stiff.

    Carrier recommendations

@densol The seraphine is a harness carrier. They are rubbish, as is Mothercare, babybjorn and nuby, and not great for baby either. Look into a lennylamb buckle carrier on Vinted and a ring sling for the newborn stage, also Lennylamb, melliapis, didymos or girasol. If that's your price point...

"So WhEn ArE yOu MoViNg HeR tO cErEaL?"

@lupo Yes. I do the same. I remind them that they did it right, they did what the evidence suggested was right, but we have new evidence now and that's what we follow, in 50 years there will be even newer evidence and maybe some of the things we do are actually dangerous, we're always learning...
