Teen turning 18 in a few years! 😱

@corydm27 I could not wait to move out and moved out a few weeks after high school graduation. I don’t think this generation is the same. I fear my kids will stay at home until they get married.

How many of you have asked your 18 year old to move out?

@garberse I am 43 now, but when I was 18 I could not stand living at home with my parents. I moved out two weeks after high school graduation. My mom wasn’t very happy about it and told me I could stay as long as I wanted. I just wanted the freedom of my own place. The only downside is it...

    Too harsh

@musicman61 What program is this? I would love to have threshold notifications for grades. We have Google classroom and Aries.

Is our daughter (11F) eating enough?

@eae45 Depends how active they are too. My son (14) just finished his freshman year of cross country. Two weeks ago he collapsed at school. When they tried to draw blood they said he was so dehydrated that his veins were too small. The doctor thinks he collapsed due to major dehydration and...

How do I parent my introverted daughter?

@sunnyhope If you find out please share. My son is 15 and in the same boat. He has a few friends that he has known since grade school but he never hangs out with them. I have tried to encourage him to do things with friends and he has zero drive. He participated in cross country and band but has...

    Freshman and bad grades

@antcart Volunteered at every cross country race, volunteered at every band event, was one of the maybe 5% of parents that showed up for back school night. Checked his grades and trying to find support. Paid $2000 for his band trip. Definitely a terrible parent, hilarious.

Sanity check- s*xually active teen daughter

@deanerenata32 Monday morning QBing but I guess you could have had a conversation with your ex when you learned about this. I guess it depends on how well you still get along or if you have the same beliefs. My son is 14 and my daughter is 12 so this day will be here before I know. Maybe I...

    Freshman and bad grades

@michaelo I am dyslexic myself and struggled through high school and never graduated college because of it. However I found my own niche and have a very successful career and make a good salary. That’s the frustrating part is that my son is actually really smart but he has chosen to not do...

    Freshman and bad grades

@miguel1 We tried to get evaluations through the school and they claimed to be short staffed because of covid. I don’t remember the specific doctors but we have Kaiser so we started with general MD, referred to a specialist that deals with ADHD. He took a test, we filled out questionnaires...

    Freshman and bad grades

@godfollowerchristlover We had home checked for ADHD last spring through tour health provider because he was not focusing at school. They said he is not even close to having it and defined him as a lazy kid. He has been caught playing video games in class on the school chromebook. He can retake...

    Freshman and bad grades

@elephas That’s part of the reason to take things away. If he has access to video games, apps, etc he will do that instead of the school work. He is home alone from 330-530 every day. The school has free tutoring so we are looking into that so he can attend on campus right after school. We are...

    Freshman and bad grades

Just checked our sons Google classroom and he has an F in Spanish, D in English, and a D in Math. He is dangerously close to dropping below a 2.0. He seems to be happy overall. We always ask how school is going and he says fine and never asks for any help. His teachers have never notified us...

    Getting it off my chest

@loverofgod33 I realize all this was coming around 2021, so I stopped working voluntary OT. I just switched jobs so I don’t have to work mandatory OT. Oldest is a HS freshman and youngest starts 6th grade. It’s going to fly by
