Struggling treating 2 yr old’s chronic constipation

@ecclesiastian I’ll dig a bit more for better citations but the AI generated summary from my Google search is as follows: “Miralax (PEG 3350) has been the subject of controversy for years because of a 2014 study that found 167 children taking Miralax had severe emotional or psychiatric side...

Struggling treating 2 yr old’s chronic constipation

@ecclesiastian Apparently some kids have had serious issues after taking Miralax. It is not actually recommended for kids per the manufacturer, no testing has been done for safety if I recall correctly. But because so many people have used it and mostly been fine, doctors have assumed it to be safe.

Struggling treating 2 yr old’s chronic constipation

@lorenzomcgoo Does she eat any dairy? Cutting any foods that might be constipating may help. Prune juice and pear juice can be great natural laxatives. Also adding a probiotic might not be a bad idea. Edit: when my son was 2 went through an intense “holding it” phase and was only pooping once...

I need stories of your kiddos moving to their own sleep space

@bloodboughtchad Can you do a floor bed? We gave our son his own bed once we moved to a place he could have his own bedroom (at about 1.5 years old) however before that, he and I were sleeping on a floor bed, and even when he had his own room we made sure the bed was big enough for us to share...

I need stories of your kiddos moving to their own sleep space

@christian002 Some people do it forever but honestly I stopped around 5 or 6 months. There was no way I was going to roll on top of him and not wake up. I was still cognizant of where the (one) blanket was and where he was in proximity to me, making sure his face was clear, etc. but I slept on...

My baby is 12 months. Can I fall asleep with her in my arms now?

@markeita Also, if you haven’t already, check out the book No Cry Sleep Solution. It is worth the read at least for validation but has great tips to encourage better sleep and sleep independence without resorting to full CIO.

My baby is 12 months. Can I fall asleep with her in my arms now?

@markeita I’m glad this helps. To be honest, my first struggled to completely sleep through the night until he was 3.5 however it got MUCH better before then, and there were a lot of factors on our end that made it harder for us to commit to getting him to sleep independently (for example...

My baby is 12 months. Can I fall asleep with her in my arms now?

@markeita There was a period of time where my first would only sleep from 4:00 AM onward if I was holding him in my arms. I used our floor bed and propped my arms with small pillows, laid reclined, and made sure his face had enough clearance so he couldn’t easily turn his head into me or roll...

    Please convince me to cosleep

@psalm51flower There was an article in a journal called Pediatrics a bit ago that was accessible but now seems to be behind a paywall. Basically some researches went through a ton of SIDS and SUIDS cases and found in the cases where there was "surface sharing" (bed, couch, etc.) there were often...
