Tips for cleanup after eating that isn’t a dog

@faye58 If the weather cooperates, I was a big fan of the picnic lunch. I’d throw the highchairs out on the patio and dine al fresco. Let the birds, mice, and neighborhood cats clean up the mess.

@faye58 We got a Tineco ifloor wet/dry vacuum and it was easily the best purchase when feeding littles. Liquid, smashed food, anything. It’s amazing!

@faye58 The catchy!!!! They have a deal if you buy two (like $20 off I think). We have it on our ikea chairs and it’s awesome. We have a rug in the dining area and I was soooo tired of spot cleaning it. You still have to clean the catchy, but for me it’s much easier than the floor. It also contains most of the mess (they’re getting better at throwing farther).

@faye58 So splash mats will help with the food mess on the floor. I can scoop mine up and dump it in the garbage and then throw it in the washer. It's annoying but better than the alternatives.

I tried using incontinence pads which were great for juice spills but found the food stuck to them more so each have their advantages.

Dish out small amounts at a time. For cereal or purees, wipe as you go.

Get smocks. We tried silicone ones but I found the ones that are like art smocks to be better.

We went for small chairs with very little fabric. Went right in the tub and sprayed off with the shower head.

If you're spoon feeding, just do one bowl. Maybe even one spoon. If you're doing pouches/purees, don't even do a bowl.

It's a huge adjustment. I hated it. It feels like you're just getting the hang of things and now you have this whole new world to think of. But there are a lot of corners you can cut to make things a little better, lol.

@faye58 It sucks at first but you eventually get used to it. I remember feeling like “am I just supposed to spend my entire life cleaning?!” And the answer is yes lol. I sweep up on autopilot now. It’s not forever, one day they won’t be so messy. That’s how I cope, telling myself this is a temporary part of life that feels like a grind but goes by so fast. Formula for two babies was a grind but now I get melancholy looking at the pile of bottles I need to toss.

@faye58 We put a mat under the chairs - this works great because it's big enough and is non slip. Just shake it outside and throw it in the wash every so often. Saves your floors.

We would push their sleeves up and use the bibs with sleeves. Then just take them to the sink and wipe their hands and face. Now they are 16m and we just use silicone bibs with their sleeves pushed up to their elbows
