Postpartum Gift

My sister is giving birth to her first child soon and everyone is very excited I kind of want to put together a little gift basket for her but I know absolutely nothing about being pregnant since this is the first baby of the family and I want to get stuff she’ll actually want/use

I don’t know if she’s having a C-section or natural birth yet but I know she said she wants a C-section if that helps with recommendations

I also know that as of last time I asked she does not plan on breast feeding or pumping

@otrtdamascus
  • Gift card for food delivery, like DoorDash or UberEats
  • Starbucks giftcard, for the impending sleep deprivation
  • Ibuprofen
  • Colace!!! It's not weird, I swear. Just get it.
  • Adult depends, or postpartum pads. Doesn't matter how she gives birth, she'll still bleed.
  • Disposable underwear, like this or this for a C-section
  • She will have uterine cramping post-birth. A lot of women swear by Raspberry Leaf tea.
  • A nice robe (great for lounging)
  • Liquid IV packs and a water bottle with a straw
  • Her favorite snack
  • If she truly doesn't want to breastfeed, you could get products like this or this
  • Other self-care stuff. Hair scrunchies, eye or face mask, her favorite lotion, etc.
If she gives birth vaginally
If she has a C-Section

@otrtdamascus Things I enjoyed after giving birth:
  • a fan that clips onto my headboard that ran all night for those awful night sweats
  • a cozy but lightweight robe (posh peanut has a great one that I lived in)
  • good reusable nipple pads
  • all fridamom things (especially the disposable underwear and ice packs if vaginal birth)
  • a giant Stanley or similar for drinking water
  • gift card to massage
  • gift card for DoorDash/Uber eats
  • gift card to a drybar or a blowout from anywhere
  • gift card to salon for manicure/pedicure
  • midnight snacks (fig bars, chewy bars, whatever she likes to keep her awake and keep the breastfeeding hunger at bay)
  • hellofresh or similar meal delivery service subscription
If I think of any more I will add them here!

@otrtdamascus Just had my second a month ago.

Nice pajamas - better than a robe IMO and can be flexible on sizing.

Nordstrom moonlight pajamas are one of my favorites. I have 3 sets.

More pricey - kyte baby has fun prints and you can get a matching mom/baby set. I got these + matching blanket and it’s adorable.

Specific for winter: slippers.

Self care stuff: LUSH bath bombs, lotion, moisturizer, etc.

Snacks/treats - Trader Joe’s shines here.

Charcuterie stuff - meat, cheese, etc.

Coffee/tea accessories - milk frother, fancy syrups.

@otrtdamascus Food (gift cards and Uber eats credits are ideal) and cleaning service credit!! The hardest thing for me post part I’m was keeping up with the cooking and cleaning.

@otrtdamascus I agree with a lot of what was already said - food delivery gift cards are great. I had family prepare a bunch of freezer meals for me so I didn't have to cook which was also nice. If you live near her, make a coupon book and offer to watch the baby while she showers and sleeps. Or offer to do laundry and dishes while she hangs with the baby.

I'll add something very specific I wish someone would have gotten me - if she plans to formula feed, get her some tea to help dry her milk supply. There are a few you can find online, but peppermint is supposed to work great! Also, peppermint Altoids (mints) work.
