HiPP stage 1 vs stage 2?

I'm very confused on the difference. Everywhere online it says stage 2 has more iron in it, which I understand is very similar to every other formula designed for babies 6-12months. But why do the ingredients vary so much? Why not just add extra iron? My baby is just 6 months so I could stick with the stage 1 longer, my baby gets constipated with too much iron anyway. But stage 1 has more whey powder and LCP oils, and the added vitamins and minerals are organized differently. This is so overly complicated. For my first I did stage 1 until 12 months and it was perfect.
