CW: alcohol abuse
My kids father moved home to Ontario when we split in 2019 ( aged 2 and 6 months). The split happened due to HEAVY alcohol use on his side < that's important. We now have a 4 year old and a 2 year old, and they have a very sporadic relationship. He calls one maybe two times a week, has little involvement but does try.
In August he's planning to fly home to Alberta to see the kiddos and his family, he's also brining his girlfriend (who he has claimed had punched him in a drunken rage) and her 13yo.
I have no idea how to go about this, it would be the first visitation in two years, so how do I go about telling the kids? How do I involve them? Has anyone been through this and have tips/ideas/anything.
