My kid wakes up every day at 4am and I’m drowning

@mickaela That's a really early nap for that age. It sounds like her entire schedule needs to be shifted back an hour or so. Ours is down at 1/1:30 for nap and then 7:30/8 for bed.

    Hand-me-downs or new?

@jdn2604 We do mainly hand me downs and then buy « nice » outfits new. Some of both is perfect.

Bed sharing but I keep being told that babies sleep better in there own rooms by people who in my bumper group

@huntinheros What a lot of people have said, every baby is different. My baby sleeps better in her crib, but her crib is still in our room at a year old (and will be for a while). She goes back to sleep very easily if I just sing to her and doesn't need to be held. When we bed share, she wakes...

    How do you do birthdays?

@airotciv7 Only have 2 so far, but we’ve kept it simple from day one just to manage expectations. We do a family dinner with grandparents and a few presents. As the kids get older, we’ll invite 1 or 2 close friends as well.

those who don’t live near family: how do you spend your vacations?

@1stjohn0666 I live near family, however once I had kids my dad gave me great advice. Take one vacation with your nuclear family once a year. My parents never did this and my mom only ever prioritized family visits and our family definitely sacrificed because of it. It is difficult because of...

Age gap between #2 and #3?

@birdyyyy Very much agree on the 2.5 years between kids. Close enough but far enough that they can communicate and be rational a bit.

Seeking advice about having 3 kids in daycare!

@icantthinkofausername I'm pretty "pro keep kids at home" and even I agree that 8 - 9 months is just a sprint and not a super long time to make that kind of sacrifice. It should be fine.

For those of you who had options, what made you pick the SAHP life?

@hew0007 It’s really tough, I think a lot of us were told to reach for the stars without being practical about how time consuming/tiring little kids are and to reach for the stars. It was seen as bad for only wanting to be with your kids now a lot of us that’s all we really want. I won’t lie...

For those of you who had options, what made you pick the SAHP life?

@hew0007 I fall in all the camps in some way. SAHP/WFH etc. After being on both SAHP and working moms subreddits I really think the best option is part-time (and wfh if possible) if you can afford it. It gives you the extra time to keep the family running while still not sacrificing your...

    Preschool before 3 y.o

@whothesonsetsfreeisfree So, we live in France where EVERY child goes to daycare around 3 months old. People are shocked that our daughter isn't in daycare yet (18 months) and she won't be until she goes to preschool at 3. Here's what I've noticed: Everyone asks about socialization. Out of all...

    Spacing between #3 and #4?

@bob999 Almost the same age gaps as you (5, 3, 0 in May 2024). To be honest, we will probably have to be done at 3 due to work and also HCOL area. If some way we do have a 4th, there will be a 3 - 4 year age gap between the 3rd and 4th. It really comes down to us having to account for having a...
