Annoying comments about my son being small

@jaeschke19 But OP's son wasn't premature. He was born one day before his due date, which is considered full term.

    How DH “does the laundry”

@stancet Yeah, that's how I do it too. I almost always remember to move it to the dryer pretty quickly. But then it sits on the dryer until I need to dry the next load of laundry.

For those who have weaned before.

@vl32 I think it's much less likely if you wean slowly! I didn't experience any noticeable symptoms either time I weaned. They were both slow (and the first time I was pregnant with my second, so my milk had probably dried up anyways.

Anyone else want to go back to 1992 when every single grade didn’t have a “graduation” ceremony?

@godsgal41 Yep, I'm pretty sure I had a kindergarten graduation in 1992 and I definitely had an 8th grade graduation. For 5th grade, I remember a graduation dance, but not a ceremony.

Anyone else not “crave adult interaction”?

@porven The only time I've ever craved adult interaction was in March or April 2020. I was pregnant then and was so excited to talk to another human in-person when I went to my OB appointment. But since then, I haven't felt like I was missing adult interaction, even on maternity leave.

    I’m conflicted about Mother’s Day…

@kthor64 Yeah, once OP tries to plan a birthday party for her kid, she'll understand how challenging it is. If she doesn't actually have any plans, she should go.

My supervisor didn’t say I was ok to take the day before my planned c-section off…?

@packetsmacker Exactly! That part sounds expected to be. But it sounds like the commenter really should have asked about disability again after being hospitalized. I bet the OB would have approved it then.

Breastfeeding exclusively 3-6 month old infant while WFH

@wisper With my oldest, I had to return to the office when my maternity leave was up at 3 months pp, so I pumped until he turned 1. Until about 9 months, I was pumping every 3 hours (so 3 times during the workday). Then I dropped down to 2 pumping sessions. At 11 months I dropped down to 1...

    I’m conflicted about Mother’s Day…

@pristerognathus Yeah, that's my thought too. You can celebrate mother's day any day. The only people to need to be involved are OP, her husband, and their baby. Whereas there are a lot more people involved in the niece and nephew's birthday party.

How do night shifts work with a newborn?

@perfectlove25 Well, I didn't try skipping any feeds, so I can't say whether my supply would have been impacted. But most babies aren't going to have a 5-6 hour stretch of sleep until they're a couple of months old. If you're OK with your husband giving a bottle overnight, then it's definitely...

How long are y’all pumping for at work?

@miketexas Yeah, I usually had to pump for 30 minutes to get enough milk. I'm jealous of women who can only pump for 15 minutes!

How do night shifts work with a newborn?

@stephonydburghduff I think it takes a few months for most breastfeeding mothers to get 6 consecutive hours of sleep. Some lucky ones will be able to make it in weeks. I'd say it was several weeks before I was able to get 6 hours of (non-consecutive) night sleep. Before that point, I was...

I've started mouthing off at my MIL the same way she does at me and I feel so a l i v e

@katrina2017 After my baby was born, the pediatrician asked some questions about the pregnancy and birth. I said I had been taking Iron supplements for borderline anemia, and he said it was unlikely to be a problem after the birth because it was just "delusional anemia". I was pretty confused...

3 year old hates learning abc’s

@clint1981 Mine must have watched some British alphabet videos because we went through a similar phase where we'd have to correct "zed" to "zee". He got a huge kick out of us pretending to fight over what the last letter was.

How did you start letting your kid sleep in a separate room?

@calebtheclown Why would you have to listen to him cry just because he's in a different room? Sleep training and sleeping in different rooms are two separate things and you can definitely do one without the other. I was pretty much as responsive to my baby when she was in her own room as when...

2.5 yr old wants nothing to do w/big girl bed

@dfomin It took my toddler a couple of months to be interested in sleeping in his big boy bed. He moved out right before we needed the crib for our second. We let him pick out sheets for his new bed and would read books with him on his new bed and just periodically ask if he wanted to sleep...
