My newborn cloth diaper stash and process for my 18 day old, in 100% cloth since day 5!

@john_h Only if it’s an all PUL cover, which is the waterproof bit, with no fabric/liner. So anything pocket or just with a fabric lining needs to be changed because the fabric absorbs a lot of pee. I still wash mine weekly (in the main wash with detergent) because the elastics absorb a bit of...

My newborn cloth diaper stash and process for my 18 day old, in 100% cloth since day 5!

@bittergreen I love seeing people suggest more than 6 covers! I swear 8-10 makes life so much easier. Mine was a frequent pooper, and while the insert sometimes caught it all, I went through at least a couple a day. 6 is not enough (in my, frequent pooper experience) for even a 2 day wash cycle!

I don’t want parenting advice from someone who doesn’t put their 2 year old in a car seat

@qdv80353 Yep, yesterday my 2.5 year old wanted sooo badly to go with my husband to move the car, from the front of our house, to around the other side of the house into the driveway. Husband said no, because there was no car seat and internally I was like “awesome, thank you!” Our house is on a...

My bf broke my heart last night… gutted this NYE

@boo89 Agree with this, except always pack enough diapers, outfits, wipes and snacks for delays, cancellations and reroutings! And pack them in carry on!

NO WONDER PEOPLE SEND THEIR KIDS TO SCHOOL SICK!

@marides Yeah I worked in a fairly affluent area and some of those kids lived a charmed life! I remember the mum of this family coming to me to ask me about when I thought the best time to go would be. The only thing I recommended was that she didn’t go when her youngest was in (first year of...

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@believerbyknowledge Added bonus: you smell like delicious coconut. I use it on my son’s face when he gets dry patches of skin because best case scenario, his skin is better, worst case scenario, his skin is still dry but he smells like coconut.

NO WONDER PEOPLE SEND THEIR KIDS TO SCHOOL SICK!

@curious12 I just don’t understand this at all. I’m a teacher and have had kids (7-8 years old) miss an entire term, so 10 weeks of school, to go traveling with their family. And I’m like cool, get them to practice using money and reading maps, writing in a journal once a week and make sure...

So glad we did cloth diapers - r/all had a room full of disposable diapers

@fishsack Aside from the insane amount of diapers that is, I cannot imagine holding onto 20 large boxes of S5-6 diapers for 1.5-2 years before they even fit into them. But then I’m guessing this person has endless space in their house if that’s how many diapers they want to have on hand.

    Toys with staying power

@facundo Agree with all of these, at least the ones we have. We went for a balance bike instead of scooter and it had been worth it’s weight in gold. Magna tiles, Lego, play scarves, wooden train tracks, matchbox cars, little people toys have all also been huge hits here.

    6 weeks postpartum… I’m exhausted.

@spybirddave Great question, when my second was born, he was up many times a night, so husband took over all toddler night wakings. And he still did the early mornings with baby so I could get a solid 2 hour stretch (with ear plugs!) before he left for work.

Am I a terrible wife for not staying up late with my husband?

@bluemoon01 Yeah, let me guess, the husband is not making the sacrifice of getting up at 4:45am every morning to spend some time with OP before she goes to work?

    My little secret ;)

@samofgerald I an definitely no expert and not judging but I hear on other baby related subs that it increases their chances of positional asphyxiation because (I think) it leaves their head in a position where it could slump and block their airway? I never had a baby who woke the second the...

So tired of being gaslighted when I say I had a traumatic birthing experience *TRIGGER WARNING*

@katrina2017 Yep, sort of similar story here. Induction drugs were turned up too high, went from 3cm to birth in 2.5 hours (maybe it was 2, it was a blur), drug free and felt the 3C tear I got. Except that before I had to push him out, I was begging the midwife to check me, and when she did...

Are obnoxious colourful plastic toys really that bad?

@stronglady This is true, although my mum bought a whole heap of tacky looking, very loud and bright plastic toys for my eldest nephew almost 13 years ago. Some are a bit faded but with a couple of battery replacements, are still going strong over a decade and 5 grandkids plus additional...
