Still look pregnant 9 months postpartum

@tillerman61 You were discharged from pelvic floor PT but you still experience leaking when you're running? I think leaking is a pretty clear sign of pelvic floor disfunction and am surprised that they would have said your pelvic floor was in good shape when you're clearly so symptomatic still...

I bought Expecting and Empowered and I feel scammed - a review

@choirmom Thanks for your write up! I also looked into it, but decided not to purchase after finding just a couple negative reviews (in the sea of what felt like so many positive ones). The thing that really turned me off was a reviewer saying there was a week where the instructions were to do...

I don't know what I weighed during my pregnancy, when should I rip the band-aid off?

@holyspiritleads2truth I’d wait a little longer since hormones are still so wonky in the first few weeks. I knew exactly how much weight I gained while pregnant, knew how big my baby was, but I held on to so much water weight for the first several weeks postpartum that I barely lost anything...

    Breastfeeding sports bras

@robo23 I would not recommend the Nike ones. They’re probably fine for lifting but not enough support for anything higher intensity. It depends how much support you want, but the zipper front sports bras are great for high support and easy access.

am i running too much to conceive?

@sahabds Cycles longer than 35 days are considered irregular, so even though yours has a pattern it’s still outside the realm of normal and I’d consider seeing doctor if I were in your shoes. Your long cycle lengthy makes me wonder if conditions in your body aren’t ideal for pregnancy even if...

    Breakfast supplement

@birdlover99 When do they wake up and when does school start? Does school offer any kind of a morning snack time? We're in the same boat and I've just resigned to not having my kid each much breakfast. If he's not hungry, I don't want to force or trick him into eating so that he's good at...

    Postpartum running

@dudgurqkqh This is the best guide for returning to running postpartum that I’ve seen and it’s what I’ll loosely follow. I ran through pregnancy until the 3rd trimester and I’ll wait until 12 weeks to do any running postpartum. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9528725/

I’m a few months behind on vaccines and visits and I feel embarrassed to go back to the doctor…

@sachin0990 You’ll be fine. I think the visit schedule is at six months and then not again until nine anyway, so it’s really only one appointment that you’ve missed. I doubt they’ll even bring it up and if they do just say “yep, but we’re here now!”

How the F am I supposed to exercise if my body is garbage?

@kellygok Planks are intense and you might be better off starting with more gentle core exercises. I’d look at postpartum specific core workouts. They seem easy but it really does help to start off gradually. Do you have a womens health or pelvic floor physical therapist near you?

Newly pregnant! Question(s) about nutrition, switching from low carb, new macros, etc

@thegirlwiththeed I echo what others said about not eating in a deficit, and the recommendation to check out Lily Nichols' book. She advocates for a higher fat, more moderate carb diet which has made a lot of sense to me as I've continued to research pregnancy nutrition. Traditional advice seems...

Doc Says Don’t Go Over 140?

@ruella There's no hard evidence, but some studies have concluded that high intensity exercise could reduce blood flow to the uterus which could impact the baby. Here's one that was conducted on six pregnant olympians where there was an effect found when exercise was done beyond 90% of the mom's...

Husband is unhelpful/selfish after having our son

@dustie If you have family to stay with who would be more supportive than your husband, then I’d plan a week or two to go stay with them to reset yourself. Catch up on some sleep and enjoy being in a supportive environment for a little while, then approach your husband again with a clearer head...

    Protein Intake

@jims4570 Lily Nichols has some great info on protein requirements in pregnancy. I ate higher than the recommendations she talks about as someone who was very active in pregnancy. Anecdotal, but I’m six weeks postpartum from my second pregnancy abs thrilled with how much muscle/strength I...
