I had forgotten how different I am from other parents

@jasa Me too. There's another one that gets me too. Its hard to hear people say "I don't have time" to do something that meets the need of a child who is literally incapable of doing it on their own. I wonder why these people became parents when they think raising them is such a waste of time...

    How do you do birthdays?

@katrina2017 So true. The length and money some spend on them dumbfounds me. One of my children went to a birthday party where they hired a clown, petting zoo, and dunk tank so it was like a carnival. The grab bag included a Barbie doll, craft kit, hair supplies, and a bunch of other little...

    How do you do birthdays?

@airotciv7 In birthday season here too. One more to go! We fill the birthday child's room with balloons, have them pick dinner, and I always make an elaborate homemade cake (like you'd find on a bakery Pintrest). If I can manage it time wise, I sometimes send matching elaborate cupcakes to...

I had forgotten how different I am from other parents

@ashish_nanda Fellow older mother here. My youngest in the crew is 10 months. I tire of the comments, but don't regret it one bit.

I had forgotten how different I am from other parents

@marycris It isn't common here. Medical professionals use fear tactics heavily, because they aren't allowed to tell you whether you should or shouldn't have children. It can be awful for older mothers wanting children. You're so heavily discouraged over 35 even when there aren't outstanding...

I had forgotten how different I am from other parents

@blazer70x7 Preach! That's been me whenever I attempted to get my littles together with other parents. I want to help them, but they are so adamant about having done "all the right things according to the doctor & parenting books" I just face palm.

    Struggling with Toddlers Roughness

@cameronb67 I'm so glad someone suggested the trampoline. I've had one like the OP described and for us the kids trampoline was a great way to help the indoor environment meet her needs better. Outside time & activities (like organized sports) was the key for my child.

    Toddler + Newborn + ?

@exodus02 I got pregnant with my second when my first was only a few months old. I had two under two, and while it was initially tough - you learn to adapt. Unsure of how much things vary with three under three, but I think it gets a bit easier with each child. You are more confident, you have...

    Cleaning/chore advice mom of 4

@cbaker06021984 It sounds like the weight of the world (so to speak) is unfairly resting on your shoulders. I don't believe in operating a household like that, whether you're a stay-at-home parent or not, because its detrimental to the person who has to deal with all of it. Everyone contributes...

    Food prep and simplifying home

@bornmc Make big(ger) meals for leftovers or freezing. By the time children are school aged they should have basic cooking skills, and mine do their own breakfast & snacks weekdays. School aged children also participate in making their lunches. It helps teach them healthy eating habits, and...
