    Help me decide-pregnant & planning

@tycoon34 Green mountain diapers does the seconds! Check their mystery grab bags, they often have larger lots of prefolds for really good prices.

Please tell me what to add to my stash to make overnights stress-free (currently using disposables at night)

@mj82 What works for us overnight are extra large muslin flats with hemp doublers. You could also try workhorses. But you’re going to want either a flat or fitter diaper that’s going to give you absorbency all around, and that you can then bulk up with either your doublers or trifolded prefolds...

Prince Lionheart + cloth wipes - bacteria concerns?

@egram Are you absolutely set on using the oo+soap formula? I only ask because it’s not necessary; you can just use water. We keep warm water in a pump pot like for coffee and wet wipes as we use them, which leaves no room for mold and could be an option if this really isn’t working for you.

    Help me decide-pregnant & planning

@theophilus2019 We folded the one size flats in airplane fold. Iirc, we used some half size flats folded in angel fold, but we got more use out of the one size in airplane and then angel. However, we were using homemade pull on covers, which likely fit differently than the covers you have. The...

    Help me decide-pregnant & planning

@theophilus2019 For reference, we were going through upwards of 24 diapers per day (flats) the first six weeks or so of my baby’s life. He pooped literally every hour and they suggest changing before and after every nursing session, so it came out to a lot. I don’t think more would hurt to have...

What does sleep through the night mean and when?

@miltonjs Technically, it means between four and six hours. We felt like we were sleeping through the night when baby would go down at 8, do a dream feed at 10, and then nurse at 4am but go back to sleep until after 7. But your perspective also changes as baby changes and matures. Now that he’s...

Q for Parents who started using Cloth w Newborn

@rui We started from birth with flats, which let you fold them to fit all sizes of babies. We’re still using the same diapers at nine months. We’ve not yet had a ton of trouble overnight (nine months old now), but some people struggle to get enough absorbency and control leaking once baby...

    Cloth diaper stains

@veevalaveeda I don’t think there’s a great way to fully avoid the stains from ebf poo, unless you bleach every load. If it helps to hear at all, my diapers were pristine white again within a week or two of starting solids. The stains wash out after a couple loads, though of course they keep...

Branddddd new and would love feedback on my plan!

@deeppeace We left everything closed ish (lidded trash can with wet bag, so still had ventilation) for months. It only started to be a problem around eight months, when the pee started to get really concentrated and smelly. I personally really like a wet bag system since you can just invert the...

Me again! NB to 6mo stash review! ⭐️🌈

@theophilus2019 You’re welcome, happy to help! We use disposable wipes out and about, and my dirty secret for dealing with them is that I don’t. They go through the wash with the diapers and get thrown away when they’re clean. We started with six hemp doublers and that was okay for a while...

Me again! NB to 6mo stash review! ⭐️🌈

@theophilus2019 Get the cheap flannel wipes on Amazon! I don’t believe expensive wipes are necessary, but I do believe you need a lot, like 100+. Seconding snappis. What’s your wet bag/diaper pail situation, and are you doing cloth out and about or just at home? If you’re putting a bag in a...

    Wash routine reassurance

@highlyfavoured1 The only thing that makes me raise an eyebrow is only washing every 4-6 days. I’d encourage you to keep a sharp eye out for any ammonia stink, especially with your night diapers. If that happens, you can do a bleach reset and then you’d probably want to consider a daily prewash...

Branddddd new and would love feedback on my plan!

@deeppeace Others have addressed other aspects of the plan, but I just wanted to throw it out there that for the first few months, day and night diapers are really no different. It’s not until three, four months until a lot of people start having to do something different, or I guess a more...

    Cloth diapering newborn

@mauriciosr I definitely think it’s more customizable! And less expensive; we just switched from the size one thirsties duo wrap to the size two at seven months. So you get a whole lot more mileage out of the covers. GMD has a whole page of YouTube videos with a bunch of different folds. We...

    Cloth diapering newborn

@mauriciosr Lots of people really love pockets, but we diapered from birth in flats from GMD and wouldn’t choose anything else. Would definitely second the recommendation to check them out—they carry really nice stuff and personally, I don’t think there’s anything better than cotton on a tiny...

Am I supposed to run 3 whole washer cycles every 1-2 days for 3-8 tiny rectangles?

@wisper We also do ec and so we only go through about four diapers per day. We do a daily prewash, mostly because we do cloth overnight and baby isn’t dry yet overnight. To our loads (regular and the daily prewashes) we add our own bidet washcloths, dish towels, baby’s eating smocks (aka old kid...

Can't transfer baby to crib - what am I doing wrong??

@rightway16 Have you tried swaddling with his arms out so he can still do that? We really liked the Aden & Anais swaddles because they transitioned really well to arms out.

    New to cloth diapers

@elizabeth1990 I’m not familiar with that brand of diapers. But in general, you’re going to want to bleach them since they’re secondhand and wash them. Both fluff love university and clean cloth nappies offer directions. We store our diapers in a drawer in my sons dresser; our changing pad is...

    Change frequency

@shilva We changed before and after every nursing session, and in between that if baby was wet and awake. Every wet or poopy diaper, basically. With cloth it’s not like you’re wasting precious dollars changing so often like you would be with disposables. If you’re nursing to sleep, I...
