    Transitioning from EBF to solids

@senni Generally speaking solids start out as an in addition too not an instead of, so you shouldn’t see a reduction in nursing until baby is around 8 months old based on starting solids. Early solids intake tends to be just a few bites, it’s more about getting used to food than actually being a...

    I’m conflicted about Mother’s Day…

@snyder502 I personally probably would not go. It’s honestly pretty rude for them to do this on Mother’s Day.

Eating behavior in babies/toddlers - what to support, when to actively intervene?

@son_of_belial The AAP recommends 1000 calories a day for one year olds. My pediatrician told me that as parents all we can do is offer a wide variety of foods, and it’s up to our kids to eat it. He basically said some meals will be a success and others won’t and that’s typical of toddlers and...

@ej99 I think you should get that divorce

Mamas, what's the longest you'd be apart from your 0-2 y.o.?

@samie I still breastfeed my 14 month old as well personally it would be a no from me unless I could bring baby with since 2 weeks of no breastfeeding at that age may well lead to weaning and I’m not ready for that yet. Also in general I don’t think I could stand 2 weeks but the bf thing would...

Can a 2yr old recognize letters?

@slyanimal Yeah, it’s definitely possible, my son has known all the letters since around 18 months or so. He learned them from Chika Chika Boom Boom originally and then we got him a letter puzzle because he was so interested. Though per the CDC “naming some letters when you point to them” is a...

Should I wait for the updated covid vaccine for my 8 month old?

@truebornagain I would talk to your pediatrician and see what they say. Mine recommended waiting for the updated one given that I am a SAHM, and Covid is low in our area right now.

I’m so sick of feeling like I’m always doing something wrong…

@drawingangel2 Uh, this relationship sounds abusive in the extreme. Any good wife does not need to pan fry their husband’s dinner when he throws a tantrum. He’s lucky you made him a plate period. If he’s been working 14 hour days than you’ve been working 14 hour days as well taking care of the...

    Visitors immediately post c-section

@cbmiller No it’s absolutely not unreasonable. Hold your boundary. He’s also a visitor in your room and can be removed if he can’t be respectful.

Does your working partner help overnight?

@daisy83 Have you considered trying to get the one year old sleeping in his own space? I’m not saying sleep train you can still respond to him anytime he wakes up just he may sleep more soundly on his own. My one year old sleeps in his own room through the night for 12 hours and I never sleep...

Looking for feedback on car seat situation, in an awkward in-between phase

@trimeresurus Generally five is the minimum age maturity wise for a booster. Additionally, boosters are a hard 40 pounds, meaning she can’t ever slip below it safely, so most CPSTs recommend your child be consistently weighing at least 41-42 pounds before transferring them too a booster. With a...

Looking for feedback on car seat situation, in an awkward in-between phase

@jackrachel3 A lot of people like the ride safer harness which is like a wearable booster if their kid outgrows the regular harness but isn’t quite booster ready. It goes up to 110 pounds in the largest size.

Looking for feedback on car seat situation, in an awkward in-between phase

@jackrachel3 Unfortunately if you are in the US all current car seats max out at 65 pounds for harnesses. There used to be some that went higher but they’ve been discontinued.

Daycare swaddled my 9.5 mo for naps

@mum2017 I find it impossible to believe a daycare would not notice a 9.5 month old can roll. Her child would be severely delayed if not rolling by that age.

Baby is barely taking bottles but eats 3 full meals a day

@max2800 I would personally offer the bottles before the solids rather than after. Not sure where you are located but the US guidance for that age is that breastmilk or formula be the main source of nutrition until one. In particular the AAP recommends kids that age receive “ between 750 and...

Daycare swaddled my 9.5 mo for naps

@yyzead Once a baby can roll they need access to their arms otherwise they can end up facedown on their stomach and suffocate because they can’t readjust their position

    Breastmilk amount per bottle

@imark Start telling her you read online that it’s best for your health to eat exactly 4.5 ounces of chicken for dinner every day so you want her to start eating chicken every night and weighing it so it’s exactly 4.5 ounces ounces for her health 🤡

    Breastmilk amount per bottle

@imark This is just weird and controlling on your MIL part, and I encourage you to tell her it’s none of her business and you will not be seeking further feedback on your son’s nutritional needs. Like there’s no magical rule that he needs to eat x at y time. If he’s happy, satisfied, and...

Baby is barely taking bottles but eats 3 full meals a day

@peterh99 Yeah you can use other forms of fat and calcium to take the place of the recommended whole milk that’s true, but the 16-24 ounces rec is for whole milk after a year not for breastmilk or formula prior to 1 year

Baby is barely taking bottles but eats 3 full meals a day

@chriscomplex Yes and that’s for whole milk after one. Before one virtually every medical organization that there is says formula or milk should be the primary source of infant calories*. It is very hard to get an infant or a toddler to take in certain nutrients in adequate amounts from foods...
