Traumatized from watching my wife labour

@codylnrd homebirth mom here! i’m sure it varies by location, but in my state midwives are legally required to carry basically a mini hospital room with them. Resuscitation equipment for mom and baby, meds for hemorrhage (pitocin, TXA, one other one i can’t remember!), IV fluids, catheters, etc...

Traumatized from watching my wife labour

@sophialkw Modern epidurals contain fentanyl, which can sometimes pass through to baby and cause the newborn to test positive on a urine drug screen. Some mothers might have concerns about the effects of the meds on their newborn, and others might worry about the consequences of a positive drug...

Traumatized from watching my wife labour

@shirlly1 Thanks. From what I’ve read, it seems like most OBGYNs here in the US are not proficient in vaginal breech deliveries, so they will immediately recommend a scheduled c section or ECV, rather than referring to a colleague who is proficient or pursuing additional training. (I think it is...

What Cheerios-like cereal are you feeding your baby?

@eugen the annoying thing is that all of the “healthy” ones aren’t iron fortified (at least not to the extent that Cheerios are 😭) so my kid is still getting a bowl of baby oatmeal each day 😂

Traumatized from watching my wife labour

@christian99 The original comment made it sound like a c section was a given for any breech baby, and that her friend was crazy for not automatically accepting a c section JUST because baby was breech. Doctors AND moms nowadays are so quick to just get a c section without even bothering to get a...

What Cheerios-like cereal are you feeding your baby?

@kterry i don’t think most people are offering it as a meal, but cheerios or similar cereals are good if you need a no-mess, quiet snack to keep babies or toddlers entertained in church or something 🤷🏻‍♀️ it takes my toddler forever to pick “cheerios” (we use the Three Wishes brand) one by one...

Traumatized from watching my wife labour

@fireheartis1 Breech babies absolutely can be delivered vaginally with support from a skilled provider, and c sections are not without risks to mom and baby.

What’s the best option for baby wearing after a c-section?

@kamywill Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. My midwives and pelvic floor PT said to avoid (or minimize) babywearing in the first few weeks if at all possible due to the stress it can create on your pelvic floor. They even said to minimize time walking/standing other than getting up to...

What Cheerios-like cereal are you feeding your baby?

@weare i always have a bag of almonds or cashews with me for my own snacking needs hahaha! but my daughter is only 15 months, so nuts are still a choking hazard for her 😢

What Cheerios-like cereal are you feeding your baby?

@weare any suggestions for portable, nonperishable, no mess alternatives? 😬 i like that i can keep “cheerios” (healthier version) in the car or diaper bag as a backup snack, and i dont have to worry about crumbs or messy stains. We do lots of healthier snacks like homemade muffins, fresh...

What chores do you get done while baby wearing?

@thehunted I think the general rule is 6 months old and able to sit up on their own! i didn’t really start until 7ish months because i was afraid 😂 But it ended up being super easy with the Tula using the hip scoot technique… kind of like putting on a backpack!

    Gentle C Section

@foundsomefunnies You lose the benefits of delayed clamping once placenta is no longer attached to mom. Unless you want to keep baby attached to placenta for a photo op or something, or do a lotus birth type situation.

What chores do you get done while baby wearing?

@wrshamblinjr I use one of those long handled reacher/grabber tools to get laundry out of my top loader machine 😂 my dad has arthritis and has half a dozen of them, so i just borrowed one from him

Do you tell your pediatrician you’re bedsharing ?

@person47 Mine has never asked about where the baby sleeps, but i’m 100% up front and unapologetic. I think it’s important to bring awareness and make it a mainstream thing 🤷🏻‍♀️ However, my ped is also an IBCLC and it’s a pretty crunchy practice. I’ve been up front from day 1 that we aren’t...

What do you tell your pediatrician about sleep?

@yoshinat0r I’m honest with them 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t mind taking the flak, and I feel like i can hold my own if they get confrontational (which has never happened.) I’m hoping by openly talking about it, i can make it more mainstream and less of a crazy crunchy mom thing lol. They usually ask...

Karens at the gym told me I shouldn’t be working out because I’m pregnant

@adit Okay the ironing one is wild though 😂 Did she think you were ironing the clothes while you were wearing them?! (ouch!)

Switching to fitteds (Esembly) at 8 months old?

@britxleir Thanks! And good to know that they should hopefully last us through potty training. I will have to keep an eye out for the sales… I don’t mind splurging on some now, but as a FTM i didn’t want to spend a ton of money up front before baby even arrived lol. One more question— do you...
