    Unmedicated birth advice

@jordan5 Yes! This was big during half marathon training and helped me in labor too. Tub was horrible for me, I loved my comb though. I hated the hip squeeze that so many women enjoy too. My midwife tried it during my last labor in April and all I could say was STOP haha. All this to say, one...

Toddler plates & bowls - Plastic? "Bamboo" (aka melamine)? Actual bamboo/wood? Something else? What does your family use?

@tobiahjude99 I guess our suction plates have never worked well enough (we have a farmhouse wood table) that we had this issue. Hope you find something!

    Unmedicated birth advice

@firewithin LOL. One of the midwives with my first was big on “it’s not pain it’s strength” and “every wave brings baby closer”, too touchy feely for me! There’s a point where it just fucking hurts and your brain needs it to stop. Nice try, lady.

Toddler plates & bowls - Plastic? "Bamboo" (aka melamine)? Actual bamboo/wood? Something else? What does your family use?

@leexyri Sure, but it’s still a plate and OP didn’t specify needing something that suctions.

    Unmedicated birth advice

@auhow Practicing helped me too, I was training for a half marathon before my first pregnancy and teaching my brain to run harder into the sore muscles and breathlessness during sprints was helpful for labor.

Toddler plates & bowls - Plastic? "Bamboo" (aka melamine)? Actual bamboo/wood? Something else? What does your family use?

@tobiahjude99 How did he outgrow the suction plates? We use suction silicone ones for our toddler, plus our normal ceramic plates sometimes. I don’t want to buy another kid specific plate so we’re planning to just phase out the silicone when we can trust her not to throw.

    Unmedicated birth advice

@firewithin “The pain is the point” helped me a lot. The body naturally tries to reject pain, but when contractions are still mild it’s easier to get in this headspace and embrace them, which helps delay any bad mental reactions IME. It’s a mind game.

Suggestions to reduce crying before sleep?

@francescapl I don’t want to minimize, but it sounds like your baby is doing great! Crying at that age us normal. If you know her hunger, diaper and stimulation needs are met, and she’s not gassy, id chalk it up to being a really young baby. Maybe someone else will have a different take.

Talk to me about babies measuring big (5.5lbs at 32 weeks), monitoring and avoiding induction!

@deeppeace Came here to link this! It’s a great resource OP. My advice OP, go along with monitoring if it’s covered by your insurance and the Dr is insistent. They have to cover their asses and follow protocol within their hospital and liability insurance. If you have to pay out of pocket, I...

How do you live as an "aware" parent (i.e. mindful of toxins, clean products, etc) without going overboard?

@chai92 One thing at a time, and don’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough.

I need a little guidance as my heart is conflicted about sleep training.(sorry, it's a long one)

@mrmovie1983 I would be skeptical of (1) any paid program and (2) any program that starts with being told you must follow all instructions. It doesn’t sound like she will support modifications to make the program work for your specific family situation, and then will probably use that as the...

Lead content in baby puffs and cassava based foods

@torn12 From a comment on another sub: “ However, due to the type of cultivation, root vegetables are vulnerable to contaminants from the soil, such as toxic metals (lead and cadmium), pesticides, pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, and nitrates. Regardless, the low levels of toxic...

Under stimulated baby: is it concerning???

@momof2napril The world is stimulating! So much of any 'boring' day at home is brand new to them, and they're growing so quickly and practicing new skills in new ways constantly.

Organic cotton clothes for chunky babies?

@dol1lbabyzs Definitely check out Parade, they are much much roomier than Pehr (my daughter was 95% height and 40% weight and Pehr fit her so weird). Parade is all I buy now for pjs, and the cotton quality is so thick and excellent it’ll make you hate everything else lol. I even have some...

I’m a few months behind on vaccines and visits and I feel embarrassed to go back to the doctor…

@sachin0990 Hi! Also ex anti vaccer (babysat for a massive family of quack chiropractors as a teen). Just go! They’ll be so happy to take care of your baby. I doubt they’ll mention it, if they don’t can just say life got busy and it was too easy to push out, but that its a new year and you’re...

    Anyone use cloth baby wipes?

@dobsonsdogs Love them, we cloth diaper so the cleaning is part of that. We use the birdseye wipes from green mountain diaper, and a Thirsties pail liner. Wash every second or third day. I just fold them in squares and put in an old glass Tupperware and get them wet.
