Can anyone actually get baby in backpack position themselves??

@outofplace_christian With my toddler, I will set the carrier down on a flat surface, have him sit on it, then back up to him and strap the carrier around my waist/arms, then adjust his position until we are both comfortable. I didn’t try this until he was older, but it might work if your kid...

I need a little guidance as my heart is conflicted about sleep training.(sorry, it's a long one)

@mrmovie1983 Definitely - we haven't hit 8 months yet, but the 4 month regression was BRUTAL in our household and it was so hard mentally/emotionally (beyond just the extreme sleep deprivation). Intellectually I know sleep is not linear, but phew it is awful to live through steps "backward."...

I need a little guidance as my heart is conflicted about sleep training.(sorry, it's a long one)

@mrmovie1983 I am also skeptical of sleep consultants. It seems like they all recommend nearly the exact same thing (consistent schedule & naptime/bedtime routine, white noise, independent sleep in the crib, cry it out), they just apply their own terminology or stupid acronyms to it. For some...

    a question of entitlement

@melissauk Yes exactly, we say “Okay how do we want to handle Monday?” We each look at our meeting calendars and make a game plan - usually both WFH and switch off at some point during the day. (But my kids are much younger)

Toddler loves pushing my newly walking baby and I feel lost

@diademjewel There has been so much good advice in this thread - thank you for posting it!! My own boys are 2.5 years and 8 months, and the 2.5yo is sweet 90% of the time but occasionally smacks the baby or gets a little too rowdy, and it is so hard to manage! Just want to let you know you’re...

I had to listen to my SiLs baby CIO over the holidays

@samkruger I mean… I am definitely sleep deprived! But my child’s emotional well being and my own sense of personal responsibility/ethics is worth more to me than being well rested. I just drink my tea every morning and move on. It’s not a terribly long phase in the grand scheme of things! I...

PUPD method- why not? Opinion needed!

@cwall We night weaned by having my husband respond to night wakes up until a certain time (midnight, then 1am, then 2am, etc). But we started when my son was 12/13 months and not sick, not teething, not traveling, etc. And we will still give milk in a straw cup if he asks for it (which seems to...

Newborn has trouble sleeping in bassinet so we tried bedsharing last night and it worked but we're still worried

@selja 1: We used to pre-warm the bassinet with a microwavable heating pad. We'd put it in there during a feed, then take the heating pad out right before we set the baby down in the bassinet. Definitely use white noise as well - I like "womb sounds" which you can find on Spotify. 2: Yes. You...

B-Belly and overshooting recommended pregnancy gains

@geomer12 Take a deep breath!! TONS of people gain more weight than they want to during pregnancy, esp in the first trimester when all you can handle is carbs. The vast majority of these people go on to have perfectly healthy babies. :) I know your midwife was harsh but honestly that seems like...

Toddler loves pushing my newly walking baby and I feel lost

@diademjewel I’ve also heard of using a learning tower as a timeout spot. My own 2.5yo would climb out of a pack n play or a tower 🥲 but it works for some people!

STM’s, did you actually “bounce back”?

@cuteness20 In terms of recovery and how I felt - yes! In terms of weight - basically yes! In terms of functioning, like being able to use my core normally - yes! In terms of fitness - hahaha no 🫠 but my baby has always been a horrible sleeper so I need all the rest I can get - eg, there is...

    Does sleep training even work?

@whosthe2witnesses Someone recommended to me that I have my husband sleep train while I go on a late-night trip to Target. 🙃

    I am exhausted... from walking

@meplus3 Girl I feel you. This shit is hard. If it helps at all, in my first pregnancy I mostly just walked (including light hiking) throughout. I worked out some before the morning sickness hit, then did a little weight lifting in the second tri, but in the third tri I had no energy for it...
