I had to listen to my SiLs baby CIO over the holidays

@katrina2017 Omg this is my fav! It especially grinds my gears when it comes from people who act like I do nothing all day because I’m a SAHM.

I had to listen to my SiLs baby CIO over the holidays

@acatholic My MIL went on and on about how amazing sleep training was for my nephew because he learned to self soothe. Similar story, we went on vacation with my in laws and they also just let him scream every night for an hour. Guess who was sitting outside to avoid listening to him scream...

I had to listen to my SiLs baby CIO over the holidays

@samkruger What’s funny to me is that although I complain about being tired I don’t complain about a whole host of other things I see/ hear people complaining about because they’re issues we don’t seem to have with our child. So it seems that nobody’s child is perfect… who would have thunk it?!

"Cry it out" is not a well-defined term

@dickwilson I bedshare with my toddler and at night, when she fusses or rolls around, I give her a few minutes to settle. To me, this is allowing her a chance to “self soothe”. Sometimes she goes right back to sleep. Sometimes she doesn’t. If she starts crying after a few minutes or can’t...

Daycare is NOT associated with behavior problems in 10,000+ children across 5 countries

@grampster I talk to people all the time who say how superhero amazing their daycare teachers are. And while I don’t doubt that’s partially true, it’s also true that no single person should be tasked with watching 5 infants 10.5 hours a day. And no matter how superhuman you are, those babies are...

"Cry it out" is not a well-defined term

@a3yan Saying “how can your kid learn to do X if you always do it for them” is pretty silly. How will my toddler learn to cook if I’m always cooking for her? How will she learn to drive if I’m always driving her around? How will she learn to brush her teeth or bathe herself or wipe her butt if I...

I had to listen to my SiLs baby CIO over the holidays

@deavallsbabe This makes me crazy too. To say that all your needs are met because you’re not hungry or thirsty or dirty or in imminent danger (but how would a baby know that anyway) is so insane. I feel like some people decide that emotional needs only count once a kid is old enough to talk or...

Exhausted ptsd mom, bed sharing and sleep training guilt,

@ms92help I hope it gets better soon. 8-10 months was the absolute worst for us in terms of sleep. Pretty sure I capped all daytime sleep at 75 min. So much was happening developmentally plus my child had a bunch of teeth coming in at the same time. If your mattress is on the floor btw, just...

Exhausted ptsd mom, bed sharing and sleep training guilt,

@ms92help My baby was very prone to the 2am party. It turns out I was letting her sleep too long during the day. Maybe for some kids sleep begets sleep, but certainly not for mine. I had to cap her daytime sleep pretty intensely and the middle of the night parties stopped. It took me way too...
