Can anyone actually get baby in backpack position themselves??

@outofplace_christian When doing a back carry with a Sakura Bloom Scout (where the shoulder straps do not detach from the carrier) I sat on the couch with baby and carrier behind me and put them on like a backpack, and went to the bathroom mirror to adjust and tighten. I have a meh-dai style...

When is baby *not* going through regression

@sungw Oh ours was happy to sleep in her playpen beside us… for no more than 1 hr 59 min at a time and then feed and reset the sleep clock. Ouch I’m touched out on your behalf 😵‍💫

When is baby *not* going through regression

@sungw My first baby was affected by sleep regressions in a very small way. It was either hardly noticeable, or the uptick in pickups lasted just long enough for me to go “what is happening?!?” And google search when the sleep regressions are. My second baby CARES A LOT ABOUT SLEEP REGRESSIONS...

How do you darken the room without blackout blinds or on vacation?

@lvmangione I avoided blackout blinds for this reason. Naps are had with some light trickling through (blinds closed but curtains mostly open) and night time is light filtering curtains closed.

Recs for an easy to use carrier?

@aurelia7 My first baby was 8 lb 13 oz, second was 10 lb 12 oz. They’re 14 months apart. I have a very short torso and my partner has a very long torso. Stretchy wrap carriers are my favourite for the newborn stage. I basically had one on my body at all times for 10 weeks and just tightened it...

What kind of carrier should I get?

@virfortis I have a Sakura Bloom Scout with leather straps, and it is absolutely gorgeous but I don't reach for it often because it's a little fiddly to put on in front-carry by yourself and really difficult to use for back carry unless you have a helper. It uses metal rings for closures...

What kind of carrier should I get?

@virfortis apron-style carrier seems to be what you're looking for; less bulk and structure. I also have big babies who stay on a big growth curve, and loved a ring sling for quite a long time before transitioning to a meh-dai style carrier that is (for me) the best middle ground between a woven...

    On a first-name basis with 2-yo

@stop_cern_idea My oldest does this occasionally but not consistently and it’s hilarious. It’s also often accompanied with the pet names we call each other, so “name-babe” and “name-baby”. She’ll especially use my partners first name if she’s upset and wants his attention right this second which...

Carrier for 1.5 year old that will last.

@anditsnotmybirthday If you have a big baby, anything related to average baby size compared to average baby age is just bogus. My second baby was 30 pounds by 1 year old and we switched to a toddler carrier (Lenny Lamb Wrap-Tai) at that point. There's no way she'd fit in a regular size carrier...

    Ergobaby mesh 360

@aijyou My second baby was over 10 lbs at birth and was similarly in between the weight/age limits for things all the time. I had never been so confused by car seat inserts and carrier settings in my life. Do a test fit. Check baby’s position in the mirror and see how things look and feel...

If I dislike the waistband of a SSC, will I dislike a half buckle?

@drr1531 Very good point thank you for the clarification here 👍🏻

If I dislike the waistband of a SSC, will I dislike a half buckle?

@rainy214 You can also tie a meh-dai carrier with the waistband up through the shoulder straps like an onbuhimo. A ring sling might be a great option for this stage, but a meh-dai will be a lot more versatile and long-term. I have a LennyLamb Wrap-Tai (toddler size) and my partner prefers a high...

    Cloth diapering newborn

@mauriciosr Yeah and just to throw this out there for weight VS age and size; I gave birth to a baby who was over 10 lbs and didn’t get a great fit in my one-size pocket diapers until over 14lbs, and my midwife gave birth to a >6lb baby who was still wearing newborn size diaper covers at six...

How to reintroduce baby carrier to 2 y/o?

@spingle My now 2yo was not put in a carrier after the newborn stage other than some quick ups testing out carriers at 9mo. I got a new toddler-size carrier (for my giant 1yo) and was telling my 2yo about it, and she ASKED to try it out. She’s been carried a few times since then in the new...

    Cloth diapering newborn

@mauriciosr I see in other comments that you’re already reconsidering your plan 😜 I skipped full-time cloth diapering from newborn stage, and instead chose to use the newborn stage as a trial period for cloth diapering with zero expectations. We have disposable diapers, and we also have 18...

    Preflat Material

@maria890 The edges of all the preflats I've purchased (and the ones I've made) have been serged with a serger machine. If you don't serge the edges, you may have to turn the edges of the fabric inside and sew the front layer to the inside layer like that to make a "hemmed" edge, which will add...

    Baby’s preference

@tierras My second baby is a mouth breather who uses a pacifier, and I basically gave up worrying about it because I could always hear her snoring. I’d try to move her head whenever I was convinced she was deeply asleep and position it better, but it was not a battle I was going to win every time.

New to the ring sling and in need of help

@swag Definitely practice! I found the ring sling particularly great for babies that like to contact nap, because I could sneak the ring sling on around a baby that was already asleep on my chest. Not a great job at it, but a one armed carry assist with the ring sling was better than feeling nap...

New to the ring sling and in need of help

@swag I was wearing my second baby in a ring sling from 4 months old until current (16mo and 35 lbs lol), but have worn smaller and younger babies since then. You will lose a lot of mobility in the shoulder with the rings. I like to pull the fabric down over my shoulder like a cap sleeve, so I...
