@dw1veu Is this new sub a welcome place for people on the fence of being one and done?

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@ggirl1986 She still does nap, and I'm desperate to hold on tight to it, but she's also at an age where I wonder if by the time the baby comes she'll be over napping (she will be 3.4 when baby arrives) BUT we still do a "rest" time when she doesn't nap.

@oluwayinka Yes, my toddler still naps also around 1:30/2, but I worry she will be over napping by the time the baby comes (she will be 3.4) BUT great point about dinner/witching hour!

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@intruthilive Yes, they do a full day option 8-6pm, then an 8-12:30 option (but you have to help in the classroom once/every other week, then the 12:30-6 option. It is late!

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

EDIT/UPDATE: Thank you everyone for posting! I really appreciate the fresh perspective. While initially we were leaning toward the co-op, We are now going forward with the Jewish pre-k. Your comments that helped us re-evaluate: My husbands WFH schedule: More productive and more meetings in...

Advice needed regarding Pre-k options and new baby!

@joanne0703 Sadly we live in a HCOL area so 1625 is actually pretty low/normal for here 😭 a full time 9-5 schedule would be at least 2 grand if not more

Advice needed regarding Pre-k options and new baby!

Right now I'm a (mostly) SAHP for my 2.5ish year old, I do freelance occasionally and since we have no family around we currently have them in day care 2 full days a week. However, we are having another baby and due in the fall. I realized I don't think I can handle the schedule we currently...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@mrseedsower That's a really good point about the nap schedule! One positive about my husband WFH is that if the baby is napping already at home, I can walk to pick up my older one. Maybe that's incredibly naive since I don't remember anything about baby naps during the first year :( I also am...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@heatherolivia They do have an earlier time slot (8:30-12:30 I think) but it would require a parent to be in the classroom one or two days a week, which with a newborn we won't be able to swing. I think that's the issue, the price is hard to say no to considering I'm not going to be bringing in...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@heatherolivia Thank you! This is all good to think about. I hadn't thought about scheduling for his work, so I'll discuss it with him later. Technically we can afford the $999 but it's really hard to say no to something that's nearly half that! And we expect our expenses will go up with the...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@missmariemonique This is a really good point!! Its funny because she was so young when she started day care that this wasn't an issue but lately she's really been upset going in and I've wondered if it's because it's on T/Th and not super consistent

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@missmariemonique Also your point makes me realize that going from 9-1 to actual kindergarten might make for an easier transition because the routine is the most similar.

@jesusismyanchorinthestorm Thank you! Oh man, I know, it's scary but a friend said "It's hard at first, but then it becomes your new normal and you move on" and for some reason that gives me comfort haha. In case it wasn't clear we live in the bay area, so everything is $$$$. There is a M-F 9-3...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@talisra That's a great point! Sadly neither of them provide lunch. Yes, I forgot to mention in the post but the co-op does require parent involvement. (One meeting a month, and 30 hours a year doing various jobs) That is a really good point about being that tired - it's just so hard to...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@leozac Thanks for your response! When we initially put her in daycare two days a week, it was so I could freelance and the finances evened out, but since we have no family around, it's also been such a relief mentally/emotionally and we're lucky we can swing it right now. There is a chance the...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@manishk012 Of course! I used to belong to a food co-op so it wasn't unfamiliar to me. I will say in general day care/pre-k co-ops tend to be few and far between these days because in a two working parent house-hold they would prefer not to deal with a co-op. Basically in this case it's a kind...
