Got an 'answer' for my "next level" velcro baby. I was too stressed while pregnant.

@nazpastor This person is full of horse shit that she shouldn’t be dumping in other people’s gardens. My pregnancy was the most happy, relaxed 9 months of my life. My baby is still hard core velcro at 4 months. Please try to erase the memory of this conversation and this person from your mind...

Baby is 1 and a half and I haven’t had a period yet. Anyone else? Does it have to do with nutrition?

@alabarre09 I stopped like 2-3 weeks pp and when the period came I actually thought it was more lochia but it smelled and looked different. Then at 8w same thing. Body is like clockwork haha.

    What age is too old?

@seekertruth72 I think “teaching them” will be difficult, if you are speaking to then in English 90% of the time and the remaining 10% becomes an (often frustrating) teachable moment. Most of us here believe in One Parent, One Language - meaning you do not actively teach but rather, to your...

    What age is too old?

@seekertruth72 Speaking to them exclusively in Italian would force them to get it eventually but it requires patience from you and them in the beginning. A 4 year old for example would pick up Italian very fast if they had to suddenly go to Italian kindergarten. I feel for your kids though...

Spent the week with a quadrilingual 5 year old

@lliner Haha I can imagine they don't see it as a skill of their own at this age, more as "your language" "mommy's language" with no "my language". Interesting!

Spent the week with a quadrilingual 5 year old

And the funniest thing was seeing him assign a language to my 7 month old. My partner and his family all speak greek together so naturally my daughter will also eventually speak greek in that environment. The kid however is used to speaking greek with adults and german with kids, and a third...

Advice please! Underexposed toddler going to community language daycare + exposure to third language?

@mike247 The sign language is awesome, I have to ask my kita about that! I get what you mean. You will do a 2 week introductory period so you will be able to see how well they can communicate with her right? Will be interesting in a few weeks time to hear if you’re feeling it’s going better...

Advice please! Underexposed toddler going to community language daycare + exposure to third language?

@mike247 Hey there. I’m also living in Switzerland. Honestly, I have zero worries about my kid joining a swiss german daycare without any prior german skills. I know of many many parents where this has been an easy smooth transition and a baby picks up the german quite fast. My baby will start...

Trilingual toddler (not OPOL) - not sure if we're going in the right direction

@trevallion I believe the younger generations learn English much easier than we used to when we were growing up. I did not have any English exposure at all until I was 10 years old. Today it is different because their online world is much bigger than we had with our dial up and most of the...

Trilingual toddler (not OPOL) - not sure if we're going in the right direction

@trevallion I think you should actually be happy with this and put even less effort into teaching her English. She will never learn Czech living outside of the Czech Republic except through you guys and the grandparents. English is everywhere. English is the global language she will inevitably...
