Pediatrician says I’m nursing my 4 week old too often - not sure what to do

@christopher000 Ask your ped for studies/proof that "comfort nursing" is a bad thing and that babies after 3 weeks should never again eat less than 2 hrs apart. There is no science behind what's she's saying. It's harmful to you and harmful to the baby and is actually bullshit. Ask her if the...

I’m so tired of hearing what other people did/ are doing with their babies

@charity78777 I would counter with made-up stories of X grandparents, etc. E.g.: Grandma says x baby ate cereal, "Oh my friend's mom watches their baby 6 days a week for free and is going to pay for their college, isn't that nice?" Aunt says x baby sleeps well "oh my mom group friend's aunt...

    Daycare says Cloth Diapers Uncomfortable

@pope66 I was a skeptic, but having tried both, I 1000% prefer cloth pads to disposables. Yeah the cloth is bulkier. But the breathability and texture comfort are absolutely unmatched. I've actually started only buying natural fabric clothes for the most part too since learning more about...

Pediatrician says I’m nursing my 4 week old too often - not sure what to do

@col8lok8 Last ped appointment was mostly a gen z resident who did talk to me and husband like this lol. He kept telling us we were "killing it" and I was too tired to reciprocate the energy but it was nice.

Give your best line for “no”

@likeruth Literally why though, this is just an invitation to be harassed about this issue further now and further down the line. Make it clear that there is no room for negotiation. I am so confused by the OP's "not sure it will fit our plans" and equally by passive aggressive comments like...

    Did r/ScienceBasedParenting just shut down?

@lozzymagoo Almost certainly the former. I've been on reddit a decade and only have ever heard of Reddit shutting down illegal (like selling drugs or teaching you how to use darkweb sites), hate-based, or extremely violent video subreddits.

Cosleeping moms... when did you ditch the C-sleep position?

@rocknroll15 After the first couple of weeks. I learned in my doula training like 10 years ago, before I came across any talk of the cuddle curl, that it's cosleeping best practice to sleep with baby's body up by your face. Makes sense to me-- my ears are right there next to baby (as opposed to...

    Lead anxiety

@ailsa62 Thank you for sharing! Do you know what the source of the lead dust was -- was there construction type things going on that created it from lead paint, was the soil on your property contaminated? Thanks for sharing and so sorry you went through that.

    Lead anxiety

@learning1 Lead exposure thankfully is only mainly a concern for ingestion. If you supervise your baby enough that they're not picking up and eating lead-based paint chips, they're probably fine. Touching/being around lead paint in and of itself is not an issue, according to my home inspector...

    I’m out of ideas

@blazewater Hahaha no judgment here! My siblings and I loved "camping" in our "yard" growing up. I put yard in quotes because our house was on such a small suburban lot that we could just baaarely squeeze our tent on a grassy patch between our driveway and front door. We packed sandwiches, and...

    I’m out of ideas

@blazewater What about some easy (wide + not steep) hiking trails? I know it'll be really tough with so many littles, but maybe you can babywear the smallest, and have the others hold hands or hold onto a rope to keep everyone together. Even for a short 30 min walk! You can pack a picnic lunch...

Yoga for 3rd tri - but not ‘mild stretching pregnancy yoga’???

@bakersh3 My favorite instructor on Peloton, Anna Greenberg, is currently in her second trimester and is posting great classes. She does modifications for herself (like not lying on her belly for cobra) but leads the class as normal. Highly recommend!
