IKEA carbon steel pan has PFAS?

so this is confusing to me. i was looking into carbon steel pans, and saw that some people in the r/BuyItForLife group recommended IKEA (surprisingly!)

but on the product listing under product details>materials and care, it has this message:

"California AB 1200 Information

This product contains: Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs); Iron, Chromium, Nickel\n\nAuthoritative lists: CECBP Priority Chemicals, CWA 303(d), CA MCLs; CA TACs; CWA 303(c); IARC Carcinogens - 1; IRIS Carcinogens - A; NTP 13th RoC - known; OEHHA RELs; Prop 65; \n"

ummm, what? isn't the whole point of carbon steel to be a non-PFAS alternative to nonstick? the "material" section only lists "Steel, oil."

@timonrhoff I think you're right, I checked everywhere to see what their PFAS policy was for other categories and didnt find it anywhere. That seriously needs to be fixed.

@strange1 okay what! this is so confusing.

is it possible that PFAS can occur as a result of the seasoning process with oils...? or is it only possible to be created manmade?
