Sling/wrap you can put on over a sleeping baby?

@brineheart Definitely do not use the carrier you linked, that’s a bag sling and absolutely unsafe for a sleeping one month old. If you’d like to read more on that you can search the internet for “bag sling deaths.” https://www.carryingmatters.co.uk/sling-safety-how-to-use-a-sling-safely/

Desperate to find a good carrier r/babywearing

@realist1981 That's going to be the case on most (if not all) full buckle carriers then. I agree a meh dai or half buckle would solve that problem, but they are slower to put on and less convenient when you're out of the house.

At the point of wanting to burn my ring sling

@blessedj316 Honestly if you’re this frustrated I’d stash the sling for awhile and switch to something easier/with buckles. Try the sling again when your kiddo is bigger (they’re great for hip carrying a toddler, it’s not as crucial to get the support perfect on a kid who can stand/walk). It’s...

First Time Actually Baby Wearing Suggestions

@jacklong If your kiddo is already 15 lbs I would not buy anything stretchy or meant for a newborn. That rules out stretchy wraps, Ergo Embrace, “easy” carriers like K’tan and Boppy Comfortfit, etc. I really like Tula, they make a ‘Free to Grow’ carrier that comes in a lot of fun fabrics and...

Considering baby bjorn mini but not sure if it’s right for me!

@wrshamblinjr That baby Bjorn isn’t that great for baby’s hips, the seat is narrow on it. I’d look into a structured carrier that can accommodate a newborn and grow with them like a Tula Free to Grow or an Ergo (but there are a ton of brands out there!). You want to look for a carrier with a...

    Help deciding on SSC!

@mcferguson These are all nice carriers. I know that happy baby and hope & plum have active Facebook pages, you could poke around there and see what people are saying about fit. You’d have a much bigger concentration of people using those carriers there.

Desperate to find a good carrier r/babywearing

@realist1981 The Aerial is going to be like your Lark except bulkier/more padded. AP is not worth it unless you purely love the looks, functionally it’s not going to be better. Do you know if it’s the cross back straps bothering you? Would you rather have H straps? Or the apron waistband? I’d...

A&L onbuhimo defects: seeking for experiences

@lady6wheels You can honestly review brands here, no problem. If they’re selling defective carriers and not offering to make it right people should be able to see that.

    Summer carriers

@leilanee Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think both NP & A&L are small businesses making their own carriers. I've seen good reviews for them here, but I'm not sure their carriers are miles better than a carrier made in a factory. It's more of a conscious consumerism thing, supporting...

How did you choose a baby carrier/wrap?

@juragankacang Regardless of carrier style make sure you get one where baby’s legs and bottom are fully supported knee to knee. There are some carriers out there with a narrow base (like this baby bjorn: https://www.babybjorn.com/products/baby-carriers/baby-carrier-mini/) that are not...

    Cross straps vs. H straps

@christian_countrygal This is really individual to your body. I’ve found I much prefer H straps, cross straps tend to ride up and pinch my neck in an uncomfortable way.

Carrier for 1.5 year old that will last.

@anditsnotmybirthday It’s really about height, not age or weight. I started using my Tula toddler at 18 months, my kiddo is 90th percentile for height and was solidly wearing 2T pants at the time.

    Frustrated with Tula

@bubble5 I hope it helps! FWIW I’m plus size, 5’5” and have found my Tula carriers to be very forgiving in terms of fit.

    Frustrated with Tula

@bubble5 Could you post a fit check with your Tula? It’s a very forgiving carrier and fits a lot of body types, just based on what you’re saying here it seems like there could be some room for improvement. Tula also does free fit consultations over zoom, if you’re not comfortable posting...

Tula Free-to-Grow vs. Wildbird Aerial Carrier??

@caiasaura I only have good things to say about my Tula, it’s been my main carrier for over a year. It’s very supportive and not too hot. The panel adjustment is great for smaller babies.

    Short torso/thin frame help

@testimony2share You might like meh dai style carriers. They have a panel like a structured carrier but the straps and waistband are long and tie like a wrap. If you primarily want to back wear kiddo Onbuhimo style carriers have no waistband, they go on like a backpack and kiddo sits up high...

F the cult-like following of certain carrier brands (Happy Baby)

@immanuelsdottir Ditto, I hate this Instagram influencer/ low supply/high demand/ waiting for product drops for baby clothing and gear crap that’s happening now. I had no idea this was a thing prior to having a kiddo. It’s super inconvenient and as far as I’m concerned clothing and some of these...

K’tan active vs Konny air mesh

@_epoh_ How much does your baby weigh? Stretchy carriers are only going to be supportive up to ~15lbs, so unless your baby is a fresh newborn I wouldn’t buy additional carriers in that style. Linen carriers tend to be the coolest, like a single layer linen ring sling.

How do you baby wear during the summer?

@the_creation_center Lightweight moisture-wicking clothes, natural fibers. A lightweight carrier made of natural fibers helps too. Anything padded, polyester (even those with mesh, that’s just hot sweaty plastic too) will be warm. I’d definitely try your Ergo but if you find it too warm...

Please no judgement - just a question

@cheeekdaniel Don’t use that narrow setting at all. You don’t want baby dangling from their crotch, they need to be supported knee-to-knee with fabric. I don’t know why Infantino still instructs their carrier be used in this manner, it’s a dated design and uncomfortable for baby. The...
