Advice before buying my first woven wrap?

@martineba So did I 🤦‍♀️. I just wanted to show how you can't predict how a wrap will feel just from the fibers.

Advice before buying my first woven wrap?

@martineba If your wrap has 50% linen and feels rough, try breaking it in more! http://www.bwistl.org/10-ways-to-break-in-a-woven-wrap/ Tumble dry until damp, then steam iron! I found that worked the best for linen.

At the point of wanting to burn my ring sling

@blessedj316 I found it easier when my LO had great head and torso control and could do a hip carry with both arms out (~5.5m). I would put it away for now and try again in a few weeks. Good luck!

Advice before buying my first woven wrap?

@martineba I have a 220 gsm 40% linen 60% cotton blend from didymos and it is cooler than a thick all cotton blend. It is soft and floppy but I don't like it because it's way more stretchy than solid. I'm hoping I'll use it more this summer. Silk, linen, and even hemp are more temperature...

Desperate to find a good carrier r/babywearing

@realist1981 If you liked the Solly you should try a woven wrap. Single layer carries so it's cooler. A thin cotton/linen blend, second hand. You can try these different carries with your Solly to see if you like tying them. It won't be super supportive though until you try with a woven...

Advice before buying my first woven wrap?

@martineba I either recommend getting your base size ( sounds like a 6) or a base -2 size (4). Base -2 is very versatile ( probably a 4 for you). It's great for 1 shoulder hip carries ( Poppins and Robins TUB and CHCC) and for 1-2 layer back carries ( ruck TIF, half Jordans, Pirate carry)...

F the cult-like following of certain carrier brands (Happy Baby)

@immanuelsdottir This is making me feel better about the wrap cult I am in 😅. At least the official FB page doesn't do BST for used wraps, and usually used prices are less than retail ( except for rare models). I did preorder one new that sold out within 3 minutes and was only available to...

    this or that

@ccld If you need the ergo identified, you can post a pic on here. A no-name stretchy wrap is probably fine, it's likely 1 way stretch if it doesn't feel super stretchy, which can feel more supportive. This is my favorite resource for stretchy wraps, the pocket carry is the one to practice...

    this or that

@ccld Practice at home for a week before you leave and decide what you like best! You should be able to fit an oversize jacket over any of those. Note that your ergo might need an infant insert if it's the original until LO is 12 lbs. I found it tricky to use the insert but others don't. The...

Babywearing questioned by total stranger at Costco, said he was a “former physician”

@mannyman LoL I had a 1 yo on my back eating snacks, my neighbor (physician) said, "I don't know they could eat in those things" indicating my wrap. I just stared at him and said, yup, she can eat snacks anywhere! Now I'm wondering if he was politely indicating the choking risk which I...

    Tandem Hiking with Gear

@jordan1275 Do you have an onbuhimo? I would try the ktan with the newborn and onbuhimo for the toddler, hopefully less bulk on the back/shoulders. Maybe try around the house to see how it feels before going hiking. Are you wearing the fanny pack backwards?

    Tandem wearing with two wraps

@thanksyoueel I also prefer wrapping but haven't tried tandem! I really like tandem trouble for wrap videos. Here's their tandem playlist. https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL77o-k-o63heHhrEYz-iySuT_TLzXMUeb You can do DH on the back but would have to tie it first.
