How do I break feeding to sleep association?

@allfree15 R/sleeptraining is helpful. Good community and folks with good links for more gradual methods. For mine the 4 mo regression never ended. If she fell asleep on the boob she expected the boob at every single wake up. Which became 5 then 10 times a night. I endured it for 2 months and...

@pinkflower It's bullcrap! Yes babies wake you and you an be up 1-3hrs mid night. But your body is not aching and uncomfortable. When you do sleep it's like the dead. I do suggest have Date Nights while you can! It could be a while :) not forever. But a while.

    Unvaccinated Nanny

@lauriesinglemom I'd be asking her why, and asking about all her other vaccines. Tdap, measles mumps .... Absolutely must. If she has none, for personal reasons, she should not be nannying except for a family that feels the same and that should be arranged privately not by a formal company. Even...

5 Year Old Screams to Disrupt Nap Time

@steve333 I would stop with punishments personally, she's not responding to them anyway. Behaviour is communication. She's struggling hard with something and this is how it's showing up. I'd stop imagining she is doing it on purpose. She's losing control actually. Try to see her with that...

5 Year Old Screams to Disrupt Nap Time

@steve333 They take away her quiet activity, at a very hard time of day for her, and are surprised when she melts down??

God I hate my 5 year old right now

@justinemf this is a hard truth but it's TRUE. our children reflect back to us difficult truths about ourselves. It doesn't mean they're exactly like us but often when my daughter makes me uncomfortable with her behaviour, it's that she's revealing a weakness I have (like keeping my cool).

@fallia I dig this. It hurts to admit but it makes so much sense.

    I’m f$&%ed, this is f&@?ed

@hamiltonbill Don't get me wrong i used to watch the show and be like wowwww before i had kids. My issue is she never truly gets to WHY the child is lashing out, it's just about complicance and obedience. She also has no science behind her methods. If you read something like whole brained child...

    I’m f$&%ed, this is f&@?ed

@hamiltonbill The only thing she got right was putting the kid back to bed on repeat. The rest is rigid authoritative parenting that makes children feel ashamed of themselves! Time outs, you're naughty, etc. Try a rad podcast called unruffled instead, its incredible! And applicable even from a...

God I hate my 5 year old right now

@celestineh2o Yes we also read this. it’s very similar to the plan C method from explosive child. Basically, I think raising your spirited child, explosive child, defiant child, have two course things in common. One is a complete reevaluation of your expectations as a parent, and unlearning a...

God I hate my 5 year old right now

@4wd One thing is that CPS as laid out in dr Greene's book .... Is WORK. It's hard work! It's no quick solution. It's deconstructing your expectations of them and rebuilding slowlyyyy. That said I'm a better parent for it and it made me confront my own triggers and problem solve on myself as well.

God I hate my 5 year old right now

@poweredbyjesus I have a similar child - Two books: Raising your spirited child. The Explosive Child I bet what's happening is he cannot meet your expectations, even simple ones, and you feel disrespected or like he's being purposefully difficult, and the cycle continues. Easier than changing...

Anyone turn FF earlier than they hoped due to motion sickness?

@pulickalbrothers So I am all for rear facing until completely maxed out. There's very good science that their neck bones aren't fused to withstand the snap forward in a FF seat until much later than people think. But! There's also heaps of evidence that most people have their car seat...
