I’ve had a fever every day for 8 days and I’m so pissed off.

@gina It took like 10 days of antibiotics for my husband to clear a sinus infection this winter, and none of us could believe it. The crud is real this year. I’m so sorry this is happening and hope you’re feeling better soon!

Cosleeping vs bed sharing for 4 month old

@daphne1 I didn’t say they were safe, just that it might make mom more comfortable

Cosleeping vs bed sharing for 4 month old

@xuanang01 LC and mom of two toddlers here. Bedsharing with a breastfeeding mother using the sleep strategies you mentioned is incredibly safe. What’s not safe is a mom flying a helicopter on 3 hours of sleep. I coslept as a breastfeeding mom with my second daughter and can’t describe how much...

My husband didn’t know our son’s full birth date

@keepitsimple144 This is especially egregious to me bc of the number of times parents get asked for this info. Your husband must have never gone to or scheduled a doctors appointment? Sounds like some redistribution of labor might be in order.

Would a 10 hour drive be ridiculous with a 2 month old?

@effervescenteye I think whether or not baby is nursing would have a big impact on my decision making. A bottle fed 2 month old would be way easier on that trip than a breastfed one.

Absolutley crappy U.S. materinity leave and FMLA... what are my options?

@nancyeab It’s possible! Also possible that bc they covet that reputation, they’d be sensitive to you drawing attention to it (“The benefits here are so great that’s it’s a shame the maternity leave is behind the times! I was talking to some other parents and...”)

Absolutley crappy U.S. materinity leave and FMLA... what are my options?

@nancyeab I did a mix! I first asked friends, then went on Glassdoor (which will tell you company size and sometimes things about their benefits), a few company websites that talked about benefits, and I actually did cold call a few places to finish out the list. I’d say I was interested in...

Absolutley crappy U.S. materinity leave and FMLA... what are my options?

@nancyeab Fight for your leave! My company did the same thing, then I provided examples of local employers (other small companies) that had better maternity leave, and I got some other parents to talk to HR. They updated their policy to be more family friendly. If you want a new job, it’s also...

    Expectations with triple feeding

@filips I think what I’m trying to communicate is that it makes more sense for you to re-offer the breast if you’re not feeling completely empty than to offer formula. If you nurse, feed some pumped milk, and then let baby sit for a bit, if he’s hungry 20 minutes later, re-offer the breast. I...

    Expectations with triple feeding

@filips LC here! Hi mama, first off - you’re doing an amazing job sorting through all this! Second - I think you’ve received some crappy advice. Losing 9% of birth weight would never been a reason I’d recommend supplementing with formula. Up to 10% is normal, and especially after a C section...

@sypnyc90 That’s an amazing story! Congratulations to you and baby!

    Expectations with triple feeding

@arunnihar I agree and would just add a success story to help with OP’s spirits. We triple-fed for 3 weeks and were able to get off of it! Now that was triple feeding without formula (just nursing, pumping, and giving BM and repeating). I do know formula really hurts the development of mom’s...

Overhead Coworkers B*tching About My Pump Sessions

@sierra98loveretail This is BS, and I’m so sorry someone said this to you. Also, do you need a better pump or to replace your pump parts? There’s not really a circumstance where an effective pump should take 45 min to drain one breast. You should obviously do what you need to do for however long...

Seeking advice about having 3 kids in daycare!

@chillcwill I’m in the same situation. I think being a stay at home parent is easier if you start with one kid and gradually work your way up (and/or if you have kids spread out or in preschool). I found it to be a pretty intense culture shock with a newborn and toddler. If you do it, I’d...

Seeking advice about having 3 kids in daycare!

@chillcwill Just jumping in as the mom with a career that took a “gap year” to care for a newborn and 2yo. It was very challenging to go from zero experience as a SAHM to full time breastfeeding/potty training/diapers/no sleep/no breaks. There were many days where naps didn’t line up, and I’d be...

    Not pumping very much

@informant I wonder if you could be about to get your period back. Your supply should be stable at 6 weeks and that’s a common reason it drops!

    Not pumping very much

@informant Are you supplementing with anything besides breastmilk?
