is introducing a pacifier at all a good idea?

@hanakahiro And also, some kids are just genetically predisposed and even avoiding pacifiers/bottles/thumbsucking they will still wind up with terrible crossbite! Source: my kid's orthodontist bill

My 8 y/o daughter came out as bi but she doesn’t understand what the means and I need advice

@bjorn Yeah I'd be bummed about exposing my kids to people like that whether or not my kids were cishet.

Give your best line for “no”

@theycallmejt This. OP doesn't want their kids around the in-laws, it's not just that they don't like their in-laws.

Tips for preparing our 3.5 y/o for new baby?

@glowfood Maybe this worked for me because my kid was relatively sheltered, but I have the same age gap as you. I didn't tell him about the impending sibling until we were 5 months in and had determined the sex. He was oblivious to the belly until then. Saying "you're going to have a little...

Another q on second (scheduled) c after emergency c with first

@jcbones Anecdotally, after an emergency c-section with my first kid in which I had to be put under general anesthesia, by the time I was out it was really hard to get him to stay awake long enough to nurse. Like, we had to keep poking him and putting a wet washcloth on his head. Did not have...

Help! Pre-k decision for toddler, second baby on the way

@ccmrockman Does your kiddo still nap/do you want them to still nap? If so, the morning one might make for a better schedule.

SAHP guilt... I feel like I’m not pulling my weight

@atlas2023 If you hired a nanny, how much cleaning, cooking, and washing up would you expect them to do? If you put your child in an in-home daycare, would you be happy if the provider stopped engaging with your child in order to do their family's laundry or prep their dinner?

Looking for alternatives to the children's dance industrial complex

@bofaith This is what I came to recommend--that or your local parks and rec department or YMCA. And it's usually a class that lasts X weeks and then it's over forever (unless you sign up for the next round).

SAHPs, I Keep Messing Up and I'm Embarrassed. I Need to Fix This

@ajewelinhiscrown Wash things on cold and dry them on low (sweaters) or medium. Though I can understand you probably wanted to sanitize the puke blanket. Set alarms on your phone for activity dropoff/pickup times. Seriously, if it's not on my phone I'm not going to remember it in time.

Favorite Safe Road Trip Toys/Activities for Toddlers!

@katty143 Same here! And audiobooks started working very well for us around age 3 and onward, for long trips where they'd get bored of several hours of music

Am I the only one who doesn’t sign my girls up for dance classes/extra curricular activities?

@anonymous9299 My city's parks and rec department does classes and activities that last about 8 weeks and then that's it, unless you want to sign up for another session. I have previously signed my son up for a ballet class when he was 4, a hip-hop class when he was 6, and ballet for my daughter...

Neighbor’s child crying for hours in the early morning. Is this normal?

@sodafox For me, about three years.

@sophie0813 I don't have anything useful to say except I feel this so hard

Concerned about teenage son's interest in guns

@yhwh_will_uplift I feel like mass murderers are probably actually not all that interested in the history and mechanics of guns. On the other hand, "a skill he’d potentially like to develop for self-defense" kind of sounds like those "good guy with a gun" types who are looking for reasons to be...
