    Cleaning toys

@bpf53 Well, the machine runs a current through a mix of water, vinegar, and salt to cause a chemical reaction, so I don’t know that you can do that without a machine of some kind. But there are other brands of machines, so hopefully you can find one that is available in your country. Best of luck!

    Cleaning toys

@fab01 Hydrochlorous acid spray, which is used in medical settings for cleaning and is human/pet safe. It kills bacteria AND viruses. I use it for kitchen, bathroom, and baby stuff. I use Force of Nature to make it at home (because it breaks down fast, it’s not easy to buy and store). ETA: they...

Why don’t more people use wool?

@kagenonikki I agree with all of the above. I’m a yarn-crafter, so I’m super familiar with the care of wool, but in this phase of life, having to mange wool covers was too much for me. PULs just made more sense for my priorities for cloth diapering and lifestyle.

6 weeks old, and I’m ready to crumple

@yannessoh Yep, there’s definitely a growth spurt. The cluster feeding and clingy-ness of every growth spurt are tough, but they subside!

Baby was born early and the new born size 0 diapers are tiny bits too big

@benstiller12 We use pocket diapers, so the transition was easy! We didn’t use the newborn size (Alva) until week 3, but I’m glad I got them. We used that size until week 12 or 13 when we switched to the One Size.

    Child not speaking second language

@watcherkohen Echoing other people’s suggestions that it makes a big difference to have Spanish-only environments for her. Particularly with peers around her age. My brother was exactly like this growing up in a Mandarin-speaking household because we grew up in the US and my parents spoke...

How to combat sudden drop in exposure in the minority language?

@aldredian Just wanted to say we are in a similar boat. I also think my Mandarin is also more established than others because I moved to the US from Taiwan as three, so it was already my community language first. Our kiddo is younger than yours, but my plan is doing playgroups and classes with...

“No DoNt Do ThAt YoU’LL HaVe To cLeAn ThE DiApErS!!!!!!!” - half our family/friends reactions when I said we’re doing cloth

@tina8462 Totally agree. While we have the occasional leak, our cloth-diapered baby has never had a blow-out. And we are doing extra laundry because of the spit-up and the burp cloths and the play-mats anyway, so what’s a few diapers? (Obviously we pre-wash the diapers.)

    Wedge or a U shape?

@neena56 The U shape has been great for me. I like that I can roll over and immediately have something to lean on.

Sometimes it hurts to question bills

@boondocks777 Share it with NPR; they may investigate on your behalf and turn it into their series on medical billing craziness. Bad press coverage usually gets the attention of hospitals!
