    3 under 4 at 40yo?

@vcs I'm 38 and have a 6 yo, 4 yo, and 8 week old. I'm not finding it particularly hard. Having littles will always be exhausting, but I'm also in a much better place to have them, even if I'm a bit more tired and the pregnancy weight takes a little longer to lose. I stay home though. I really...

Walk me through your laundry routine! I’ll start

@ava1453 Everyone has their own hamper and is responsible for getting their dirty clothes in it (even the 3 year old, with much reminding.) I also have 2 communal laundry baskets, one downstairs for kitchen laundry and things that get flung off like socks, and one upstairs for catch-all...

    Help coping with the judgement

@carlee Congratulations! I'm only on #3 and have gotten so much snark; people are jerks sometimes. Obviously you know this now, but our culture has sold women a bad bill of goods about our fertility. Yes, it's declining with age, but the average age women had their last child prior to the...

    How do you wake up?

@cptbobproffesoromemeology I'm also not a morning person! I used to be able to be up earlier than them, but now, not so much. 1) Can Dan run blocker? At least a few mornings? My husband gets their breakfast together so they know to just head to the kitchen in the AM now. Even if he has to head...

5 years later and with mental health things- am I mad it consider it?

@kevinbama Here's what you do, because your gut knows the answer but your head keeps telling you stories and giving you reasons: for one day, fully commit to the idea of OAD. Just 100% decide on it. The next day, switch and fully commit to a second. Which day made you feel calmer, happy, ready...

Having a second is "X" times as much work

@jazzyd777 It averages out to 1.5 I'd say. Some days it's definitely half the work and other days it's definitely twice. My kids are 2 years apart exactly. I'm a SAHM. After the first 6 months it starts to really gel. You cook breakfast, adding an extra scrambled egg is completely negligible...

    Income needed for 3 kids

@morgannicole555 I love it. I never had any desire to "do it all." I like being able to focus on my home and family. It's cliche, but there's a lot of joy to be had by slowing down. If you can afford it, I highly recommend it.

Walk me through your laundry routine! I’ll start

@ava1453 It sounds daunting because it piles up on you and you're doing mixed loads. 1 category per day is very manageable.

    Income needed for 3 kids

@morgannicole555 My husband makes the same. We're in a moderate COL area surrounded on all sides but HCOL areas. We're fine with 3, still considering a 4th. However, we only have debt in so far as we're leveraged, which is not the same. You're making far too much to be in debt, fix that...

Having a second is "X" times as much work

@shicomi I thought that too, but for a whole host of reasons we decided to do a short gap. We wound up with 2 years and I honestly love it way more than I thought I would. The fact is that there isn't a perfect age gap just like there isn't a perfect time to have a baby. Figure out what makes...

Shall we go from 2 to 3?

@wren84 Lord. You know what people mean when they say that. Don't be obtuse.

Shall we go from 2 to 3?

@wren84 Perhaps their older children were just older than yours, or have different temperaments? Maybe they have more support? Their 3rd could be a more relaxed child? I think it's a stretch to assume everyone offering this opinion holds it due to poor parenting practices.

    Having a sixths baby?

@alex_t Well, low hanging fruit first, the puppy should be housebroken, somewhat obedient, and energy dropping down a bit by the time you're due. Dogs mature so fast compared to kids. My puppies were 5 months when I got pregnant with my first and were pretty mellow by the time she arrived. Not...

    Spacing between #3 and #4?

@bob999 It's always so hard! You are right, there just isn't a right answer. I'll say that, once they're a little older, the 2 year gap is great in many ways. They're often in the same activities or are in back to back classes whereas the younger one isn't even on the same day or not eligible...

    Quad stroller anyone?

@wren84 Question: I'm due with my 3rd soon. My other two will be 6 and 4 when he arrives. I have good single and double strollers for most stuff. I was considering investing in the wonderfold 4 seater for longer day trips but I worry it's overkill. I just know that my oldest will want to ride if...

    Spacing between #3 and #4?

@bob999 Not exactly your question but my first two are exactly 2 years apart. I stay home. 2 very close together is HARD. Worth it in many ways, but back to back pregnancies, 2 in diapers, 2 needing full time attention is definitely harder than a 3 year gap in my experience. My concern if I was...
