Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@warmtribute I always wonder about the siblings in those scenarios. What if they had burning passions, too?

7 year old using the N word

@katrina2017 I had this experience with the word "queer". I could tell something was wrong from her demeanor, but my teacher first asked me what I thought it meant. "Weird or funny", I thought. I hadn't said it in a mean way. I don't remember what she said after that, but I wasn't in trouble...

Ex is asking to change the kids schools after getting married/moving

@akne Dang but I wish you were our coparent! I love how you phrased that, not even neutrally, but pro-change. Well done.

Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@recuerdo I agree with the balance. Especially when they are very young, it seems like a good idea to try out different things at lower levels, see what they like, maybe something will stick, maybe not. If I had the say for my kid, I would require at least one activity throughout high school...

Ex is asking to change the kids schools after getting married/moving

@akne If it were me, I would push it down the road again and say absolutely not for 5th grade, but we can reevaluate for middle school when daughter would have to make a change anyway. Then that gives you a year for either ex to settle down and have more stability...or not. And you go from...

Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@dennisbon My kid's cousins did intense club sports when they were younger, and now that they're both in high school, they both opted out and have no extracurriculars. I was pretty astounded, as to me, much of the point would've been for college admissions/scholarship help, and now they're so...

As we’re home today w the kids for the holiday…

@katrina_ I was also going to recommend them. They cut just enough of the background noise to help not drive me crazy

Co parenting / introducing to partner

@vidacek1234 The exact times will vary for everyone, and that's not necessarily as important as how it is handled. I would absolutely reverse your last two steps. The children should not be the messengers (and sure as hell should not be asked to hide anything from their other parent!). You...

Am I just over thinking, or is this actually weird?

@straw23 I find that super weird. Like you said, have groups of kids together with an adult or two, but swapping around kids and adults for sleeping arrangements like that sounds bizarre.

    The Mostly Good-Enough Husband

@cristy Ah, this sounds so much like us. I usually say "I'm not the manager!" but your expression of parenting him is about the same. Initiative, damn. Where the hell is it? We recently started couples therapy. Our first homework was to hold a family meeting. I said that sounded great, except it...
