    Maternity clothes

@torn12 I bought a lot of things from ThredUp, so that's my basic maternity clothing tip. My more specific tip is to wear sweater dresses instead of sweaters. They don't have to be maternity because you don't need them to cover your whole body. Also, they're probably like 0% natural fibers...

    Milk/Colostrum delayed

@jesmo Medela actually makes slow flow nipples. If you're using nipples they gave you at the hospital (or the ones that came with the pump bottles), they're probably medium flow, but you can buy replacements that are slower. If you're interested in other bottles: •We really liked Boon Nursh...

How the heck are y’all getting 3-4 oz from one boob!! I’m lucky if I can get 1-2 oz between the both. It’s driving me crazy!!

@jusrme You're right, it's not talked about much but I think it should be. It's the most practical choice for a lot of people and I think knowing about it ahead of time could prevent people from feeling a lot of stress and sometimes guilt that comes with early feeding decisions. When I was...

@higherground I don't get that much and I think it's fairly uncommon unless you have an oversupply or have been pumping for a while and are not pumping as many times per day. But also, you're still breastfeeding! When people are getting large amounts, it's usually instead of nursing, not in...

    Lead anxiety

@ministerofthekingdomofgod Yes, you are. I used one of the 3M test kits to check the paint in our last apartment, and IIRC, I had to cut about 1/8th of an inch into the wall to use the swab. So it's definitely not just the top layer. I felt more comfortable with that anyway because when some of...

    Baby Boy Names?

@orma32 I love Arlo! You seem interested in real criticism, and my baby just went to bed, so here you go: ...looks like it's spelled wrong. ...feels very 2010s/2020s, like it will seem very dated in the future. ... is too nickname-y. I don't know why, but I hate the way this name...

Is there a reason I should consider an infant seat and not just going straight to the convertible?

@hermit76 We started with a convertible seat the first time, and I have no regrets. We will be doing the same with the next baby. Your context in comparison with mine in case it helps: I live in the northeast, so the weather occasionally gets pretty hot in the summer and often gets pretty...

    Baby registry vs. sustainability

@brineheart If you haven't already, don't announce the sex of your baby. If people know, they'll buy you a lot of gendered clothing that you probably don't want. The most sustainable way to do this is to limit the amount of stuff you get. We really tried to go for quality over quantity and...

Is there a reason I should consider an infant seat and not just going straight to the convertible?

@hfbroady No. At least it's definitely not the norm at my hospital or any of the other hospitals in my city. The only hard rule was that I wasn't allowed to walk out carrying the baby, so my husband pushed my wheelchair while I held the baby. They only need to do a check if there's any...

Is there a reason I should consider an infant seat and not just going straight to the convertible?

@washedbyblood87 Ours really wants you to bring a car seat into the hospital, but if you: •deliver your baby, who is healthy, full term, and not very small •tell them that you have a convertible seat already installed in the car and are very confident in your ability to use it correctly...

What do you class as sleeping through the night?

@lukas741 That's technically true, but I'm sure that's not what this person means.

Cannot decide between Uppababy Vista & Nuna Triv travel systems

@chrisss7 One way to address some of your concerns would be to buy only one base for the car your baby is in most frequently and installing the car seat with the seat belt in the other car(s). I don't have either of those strollers, so I can't say which is better for your situation, but we...

What do you class as sleeping through the night?

@sass Officially, sleeping through the night means 6 consecutive hours of sleep, but I think most people mean they sleep from when they put their baby to bed until they wake up in the morning. Unless both feeds are dream feeds, that baby is not sleeping through the night.

    Baby registry vs. sustainability

@renee13 If you feel uncomfortable with throwing away your car seat, find out if the manufacturer has a car seat recycling program. I haven't looked into other companies, but I know Clek has one.

@lightnow23 At least in the title!

    Good or Bad

@curry0 Having read your description, I definitely get the same image. If you'd just asked what I thought when hearing that name, I probably would've just thought it sounded southern, without connecting it to a specific race, time frame, or image in my head. Those are both assuming that Tillie...

Anyone turn FF earlier than they hoped due to motion sickness?

@martyiy Same here. I also wondered why they were concerned that 22 months was too early to wean from breastfeeding.

    Cribs for short mamas

@computergal Convertible cribs are great because you can use them longer than non-convertible cribs, but you don't take the side off every day to get the baby out. You take the side off once when you want the baby to be able to get out on their own. Cribs all have to be about the same height...

    Thoughts on Elijah Leviticus K.?

@kyachu Elijah is great, and I don't think ELK is problematic, but Leviticus is VERY biblical, especially when combined with Elijah. There are plenty of other great L names. I actually think Elijah Lucas sounds really nice.
