    So they don’t wear coats?

@mcdiggety My older son (16) is almost never cold. Ever.

How many of you have asked your 18 year old to move out?

@garberse Not to 18 yet (11 months to go) but we will not. Rent prices are absurd in our area. So I don't foresee him moving out soon. ALso, just because a child is 18, there is still the question of college/trade school/something, that might be in the way. I didn't move out at 18 because...

Teen turning 18 in a few years! 😱

@corydm27 I didn't move out at 18 because I wasn't going to leave my childhood dog with my mother. And we lived close to a university that I ended up attending. My soon to be 18 year old would love to move in theory but he has no idea what he really wants to do. We live close to Jr College...

How far do we go to help a teen who doesn’t want to help herself?

@bobear24 The one constant through out your post is you keep trying to get het to go to school or stay in her school program. Perhaps it's time to realize school is the problem and not the solution. My eldest kid went down this path. So we pulled him from school for a few years. He is now...

    Needing some other parents opinions....

@eco I'd say no. You've already gone above and beyond being a great parent by making the arrangements you have made. He can sleep over, he can have the couch. If something happens, you're prepared. But he still gets the couch.

Shocked and Confused by 15yo Child’s Revelation

@jeff98682 Well, I think you answered you're own question. She knew that would be your reaction, so she didn't say anything. And, well most people are in denial about their health status. I had a worm issue briefly at 12 or 13. It went away quickly with some medication.

Shy Freshman son; starting to make friends. But I can't deal with some of the parents. Clique all over again

@metsuko I am sorry you're going through this. Remember, high school is only 4 years. To certain extent, yes you have to suck up some of it, but you have no obligation to go to every event. You can always arrange to pick up your son afterward. People are unlikely to become good friends...

Are teens supposed to be this tired?

@jen1458 In short, yes. When I was that age, I slept so much that my mother was terribly worried I had mono. I ended up 6'2". My 15 year old is now the same way. And he's now almost as tall as me.

Teenager using Pot regularly - how do I get him to stop?

@simplewoodencross I'd rather my kid go to a lesser school than be suicidal. The pressure to do well in school is overwhelming for many people . And seriously, other than college applications, no one is ever going to care what he did in high school. No employer will ever ask. No bank will...

CALLING ALL THE PARENTS OF STRONG WILLED TEENS

@tyler234 Well, that sounds like a tough situation. But what sticks out to me is you have identified WHY he is the way he is, and you've identified WHAT his behavior is. What I don't see is you then tying the two back together. As another user said, He's behaving exactly as you'd expect a...

Teenager using Pot regularly - how do I get him to stop?

@simplewoodencross Your son is suicidal and your only concern is he is using pot? He needs therapy immediately. Pot may make people make poor decisions, but it generally doesn't make people suicidal. His problems go much deeper than you are acknowledging. He needs serious help, not band aids.

What would you do? I need advice on this situation with my 16/f daughter!

Lo.l.. down voters choose $$ over their own daughter. Sad.

What would you do? I need advice on this situation with my 16/f daughter!

@k3at $600 is a lot of money, but money comes and goes in life. Time with your daughter is priceless. When you're on your deathbed, will you look back, will you miss the $600 or regret not being there for her? That is the question to ask yourself.

Boy is willing to brave extreme cold

@mbraun And yet in the marriage forum, women are complaining their men don't do anything for them. lol

Teenage son things random small talk is pointless between parent and kid

@metsuko Sounds pretty typical. And he has a point, gas-powered cars are going to stop being manufactured in the next 10 years. Jumping a car will be as common as a rotary phone before too long.

Low HS grades - 18 year old

@leryc Opportunity and grades are not the same thing. No one gets a good job or starts a company because they got an A in high school.

    Freshman and bad grades

@sandgroper101 I had to re-read this several times because the way you phrased it it sounds like he's off in college or going to school far away from you. It sounds like you're very unengaged in his life and you're just now finding out what's been going on right in front of you the entire time...

Low HS grades - 18 year old

@leryc Unless he's trying to get into a prestigious university, no one will ever care. Employers don't ask what grades you got in highs school. Community college just wants to know you graduated, and they can make up for any deficines by taking which ever class. Trade schools usually just want...

Teen daughter lied about meeting a friend. Is actually planning to meet a boy she met online

@ccm500 I'd take her. Let her go. But keep an eye on them. Like, in eye sight. Not only in case he is a creep, but in case she comes crying that he isn't as cool as she thought he would be. Quite frankly, meeting people online is how people meet these days. It's become rather common.
