How Can We Make r/sleeptrain A Better Sub for Sleepy Parents?

@shiftybroccoli I think that definition should be made explicit then. My definition of sleep trained is a baby falling asleep independently at naps and bedtime. I kept night feeds/wakes for months after sleep training.

Yes, it's possible to have a baby that has a late bedtime and wakes up late

@familybargainshop My littles were active at 5 am in utero too. It was a wake point for both of my kids but note that they sleep through, they sleep in to 7 or 8 am.

Asking for wash advice - Can't fill my washing machine with cloth diapers

@heavyspec I bought two queen size bed sheets from the thrift store and cut them up so that they are the same size as the prefolds. I don't need to wash my kitchen towels as often as diapers and I was noticing wear on my baby's clothes (we have a "capsule" wardrobe for him, so he wears...

Prepare me for the family battle...!

@ellen45 I recently looked into pull-ups. I reluctantly spent $100 on 4 pull-ups for my toddler overnight. To use 1 disposable every night from 2 years old to 5 years old would cost about $600. I have two kids so that's even more $$. According to a Global New article (2018) the average child...

Does anyone else have a BBB List? The "Before Baby Bucket List"?

@gupta The weekend away was lovely. We've been together for 12 years and it was our first real "weekend" that we took for ourselves. I mean, we travel home very often because we lived so far from home for a long time while in school and our parents are constantly calling, lol, but that never...

Does anyone else have a BBB List? The "Before Baby Bucket List"?

@gupta I don't have a fun BBB list because I intend to continue doing stuff both scheduled and spontaneously that I love and make me happy after baby! Just this year, I started taking ballet classes twice a week in September; I took my husband for a weekend in a town a few hours away; We're...

Prepare me for the family battle...!

@beverend I tend to go with enthusiasm. My MIL cloth diapered but my mom only managed 6 weeks with her second child (boy, two under two...). When my mom found out I was having a boy she was all the sky is falling over my cloth stash. I love my covers. I find prefolds really easy. I prep the...

Yes, it's possible to have a baby that has a late bedtime and wakes up late

@kitsoni Yes 🙌🏻 my son did 9pm - 9am. My daughter does 8pm-8am now. We had to shift my sons schedule when he started daycare (18months). He was not a happy camper on 7-7.

Help a lazy Alva-pocket-diapering person graduate to something better for overnight?

@morehimlessme I'd replace the microfiber too. The gerber prefolds are 2x3x2 (I think), so trifolded that's 7 layers, plus 3-ply. so you're at ten. The only way I got a prefold to work overnight with my son was trifolding the next size up (Large 4x8x4 for 16 layers of absorbency, then folding...

How Can We Make r/sleeptrain A Better Sub for Sleepy Parents?

@shiftybroccoli I’ll pm you my email! I had another thought too. Flairs. Sort them by age or sleep training method or help I’m lost! It took me a bit of manually adding them to all posts but eventually the community caught on and 99% do it now! Even new members and first time posters.

How Can We Make r/sleeptrain A Better Sub for Sleepy Parents?

@shiftybroccoli If you are looking for mod help to get everything off the ground I’d be happy to help for a bit. I’ve been a mod over at r/clothdiaps for 3 years now. I like the idea of weekly chat/discussions/question threads. We have wondering Wednesday. You could do a second question day on...

    Am I asking too much?

@athaddeus I'd take out the language about how they were an experiment and that you decided on a different system. I've also never spent more than $5 on a used cover, inserts included or not.

Potential stash - please critique/offer suggestions!

@solumnay Yes the premie/NB size (4-9 lbs I think). The smaller sizes are $12 for 6 most places. They also very recently changed their packaging so you might be able to get the old ones on clearance. The FST are something like 50% cheaper. If you're comfortable with the folding they are a good...

Potential stash - please critique/offer suggestions!

@solumnay You seem to have a lot of covers on your registry. I have 9 NB covers and 8 OS covers. I could get away with even less but I like all the colours ;). I have 2 small bummis pull ons that only fit till 8lbs (tho we're still using them occasionally). 4 of my NBs say they'll work till 12...

Cloth diapering a preemie - what weight did you start diapering?

@jesuslover34 I clothed my first from 1.5 weeks and my daughter from birth. He was 6.5 lbs and she was 6.75 lbs. We used NB prefolds and covers for a good 3 months. I'd recommend Rumparooz because they have a higher weight range. We also used Thirsties size one and they fit my kids for 9 months...

How to prevent red rash at waistline overnight?

@thecorams Zinc may stay diapers. The actual worry with Desitin is the petroleum. It may coat fibers and cause repelling overtime.

How to prevent red rash at waistline overnight?

@godsgirlsara Zinc won't damage the diapers, though it will stain. Petroleum is Desitin may coat synthetic fibers (microfleece liners, microfiber, polyester) and cause repelling over time. You could use it with a cotton workhorse. We use fitteds overnight, my solution is add absorbency (a...

To wait or not to wait...

@rebecca25 It would suck to be sick over Christmas. My nausea and fatigue hit immediately. Practically week 3 before I even had a positive. It had cleared up by 8 weeks though. Everyone is different!

To wait or not to wait...

@silverthorne We didn't start early but I was a cycle 1 unicorn the first time round. I was over the moon, my husband was a little spooked ha! If your SO is on board, I'd say go for it, what's 6 weeks in the grand scheme of things?

    Don’t know what I’m doing

@romanseight2005 I like cotton! I use fitteds overnight (12+ hours) but cotton prefolds or flats/ flour sack towels work well too.
