Are we the only ones struggling financially?

@sunflower232 We are not struggling but compared to couple of years back, we are definitely saving less, contributing less to 401k combined, and spending more. Second kid childcare, picking up back some expensive winter activities, kids activities etc + house stuff + spouse being out of work for...

Are we the only ones struggling financially?

@swatson I think we easily spend more than $1000 and even more once you account for alcohol. We also eat out (and even more now as I’m not working so out and about more and husband back to office a few times a week). It’s been a long while since we reviewed the budget

My husband didn’t know our son’s full birth date

@keepitsimple144 My husband is horrible with dates. We had a visa interview and he could not remember the year we got married. Or the date our youngest was born (which are two days in a row, just different years)

Has anyone been a SAHM during the day while husband is at work and then gone to work in the evenings? How did it work out for you?

@lesbian5eva are you in college town? If so I’d look into hiring one of the students as babysitters or a nanny to watch the baby at least for a few hours a day few days a week (bare minimum) Maybe walk them in a stroller so they are out of the house. I assume this arrangement can be cheaper...

Preschool Problem -- Is it worth it?

@ballofconfusion I would look at age group for kids in daycare next school year. Like if most of them are close / same age, won’t be an issue. But if there are 5 under 2 and then your daughter being 3.5, it would be an issue

My mom died, I inherited her shares to the family company and my uncle says I’m not ready to lead after 13 years of hard work

@journierman I think you should tell him it’s time to retire and enjoy his life. You will take care of the business and that his accounts are full.

Transition from Full-time to Part-time Denied?!

@randall1967 If the role is not scoped for PT, than yes. My previous employer offered a few PT corporate position in pretty much all job families but transitioning in the same role won’t be possible except a ramp back after maternity leave.

Seeking advice about having 3 kids in daycare!

@chillcwill I think 8-9 months is so short that I’d better eat the cost. Alternatively you may look for a nanny as with 3 kids or may end up cheaper (depends a lot on the area, daycare rate, nanny rate) Will insurance cost change? Will your 401k contribution drop?

    Why I'm quitting

@djmads Well at least in the state I leave the paid benefit is capped. And while it claims up to 90% or pay, I think you need to make really low to get to this number. I think I got like 50% Still better than unpaid leave but I’m glad my employer topped it to 100% and gave weeks on top
