Anyone else want to go back to 1992 when every single grade didn’t have a “graduation” ceremony?

@monkeym24 My kids’ school district finds other ways to celebrate moving schools and I love it. Kindergarten is a small moving up celebration where they sing a couple of songs for the parents. 6th grade (elementary goes to 6 here) is a giant track meet across all 10 elementary schools. It’s...

Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@dennisbon My line is one activity per child. My daughter does Girl Scouts. My son doesn’t have anything because he’s not interested. My daughter wants to do karate and I’m considering adding it because GS isn’t a heavy lift and my son doesn’t want to do anything. But these families that...

What kind of car do you drive?

@olaitan I drive a Tesla Model Y. My husband’s car is a Toyota Highlander with captain’s seats for the second row. The Tesla has become the primary car. Highlander if we’re transporting the kids’ friends.

Took a job 6 months ago that is hybrid. (Advertised 2 days a week) and they just announced they are going back to fully in office

@margoelise It takes them (HR) a month just to acknowledge that you've submitted the paperwork. I have an exemption right now for other reasons, which gives me some latitude through the end of the year. I just don't want to revisit this constantly.

Took a job 6 months ago that is hybrid. (Advertised 2 days a week) and they just announced they are going back to fully in office

@ilkhanapit I was asked to mentor junior women to show them how it can be done as a working mom. I told them...I am the last person you want to do this. I worked from home when my kids were infants. My husband has taken several steps back in his own career in order to support me. I nearly lost...

Took a job 6 months ago that is hybrid. (Advertised 2 days a week) and they just announced they are going back to fully in office

@ilkhanapit We recently announced 4 days a week back in the office. I haven’t had that schedule since before I had kids, and my oldest is 12. I told my boss that it was absolutely ridiculous that I should have my schedule upended because of this. She agrees and we’re dealing with it…but in the...

those who don’t live near family: how do you spend your vacations?

@1stjohn0666 We do one vacation as a nuclear family every year. My ILs take my kids for the last two weeks of the summer, so that satisfies them from a visiting requirement. Otherwise, we rotate Thanksgiving. My family, his family, then we host and whoever from both families shows up.
