What's the obsession with "catching up"?

@jcrook I'm not familiar with the number of studies available, sorry. I like to use both my son's actual and adjusted age when measuring milestones. As long as he's somewhere within the wide range of normal, then I feel comfortable knowing that intervention isn't needed. They're definitely...

What's the obsession with "catching up"?

@jcrook I think people are just trying to be supportive or encouraging the best way they know how. I wouldn't fault someone for asking about my child catching up, but I can understand your frustration. I do think your last statement is arguing semantics. Did they "catch up" or are they just...

New to NICU w/ 27 years weeker. Brady spells

@meetz It's definitely difficult to comprehend. I remember thinking, "No, he's clearly NOT okay. Isn't there something you can do to stop this?" Then after a few weeks, I was yelling across the unit, "Just a brady! He's good!" Hopefully it gets easier for you to deal with, and your daughter...

New to NICU w/ 27 years weeker. Brady spells

@meetz This is extremely common and most premature babies experience it. That doesn't make it any easier, but hopefully it'll help ease the concern a tiny bit. My son was born at 27+1, so I know how you feel. There's so much to learn, so let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll...

How often/long are you at the hospital?

@ninkies I was there 12-16 hours a day, but I had no other obligations. I figured I'd rather hang out with my son than sit at home watching TV or something. But, everyone has different circumstances and that's okay. Even if someone wants to sit at home and watch TV. Gotta take care of...

    Cervix dilated at 27.5 w

@itrustgod I don't think there's much you can do. It's all luck. At 27+1 I went from 3cm to 7cm in about two hours and was taken in for an emergency c-section. They said there was also a chance the dilation would stop, but it didn't. Baby stayed in the NICU until a week before his due date...

Can I prevent my baby from getting a trach??

@stereodanny Have they explained why they're jumping straight to trach? It doesn't seem to make sense, unless there's part of this story missing. I'd definitely want a second opinion.
