Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@joysky93 When I say I "try to see if she needs to eat again" I mean I physically put my nipple in her mouth. She sticks out her tongue, turns her head, and arches her back.

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@jomarie I do try to nurse (as I said in my comment above) and, believe it or not, she sometimes doesn't want it and is still crying! She is my second and I absolutely remember fussy periods like this with my first as well. And I'm not "letting her cry". I'm rocking, singing, changing, offering...

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@katrina2017 If that was the case, wouldn't she continue crying until she eats? Sometimes she'll just randomly cry for like 10-20 minutes then fall asleep for 2 hours. Also, I do check if she wants to eat. Meaning, I'll put a finger in front of her mouth and see if she roots for it or I'll...

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@katrina2017 People will say that the moment she starts fussing, though. And maybe your baby instantly calms down as soon as they get what they want/need (lucky you), but mine always take a minute to come down from their freakout. Even if they were crying because of hunger, they will "hmph hmph...

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@timhsu_ca I understand that. This ain't my first rodeo lol I've been nursing for the last year and half straight! I'm talking about when she is not rooting, has recently refused my boob, and is still crying. That does happen. She's sometimes tired or wants to be held or swaddled or something.

@luke1433 Yep! My first didn't smile till almost 9w, so I hope this one is sooner

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@timhsu_ca Your last sentence is spot on! Lol I'm mostly just sleep deprived. She is my second so I thankfully have a few tricks of my own up my sleeve, but the newborn stage is just crazy. It kind of stinks feeling like I never really make her happy. I just make her not-mad.

    @sadmomga I think it's the sleep deprivation 😴

@mrjoya1234 Have you tried reading him some books? JK! Lol! Its like they think we aren't constantly troubleshooting our children. Excuse me, this is literally my job. I'm pretty sure I've already spent more mental energy than you problem-solving, so the first thing that pops into your head...

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@lukyjim That's how my first was! But I think I didn't have as good of a supply with her, so maybe she was just in a perpetual state of, "Yeah, I could eat". This one will straight up clench her mouth, arch her back, and turn her head if she's not actually hungry.

@ravenblue Toothless newborn with questionable latch. Definitely. But my toddler can hurt more if she is squirming or talking or whining. My toddler not only has a better latch but is better at inducing a let-down so the pain doesn't last as long.

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@ravenblue It's not too bad unless she's cluster feeding 😊 and then of course the toddler wants to tandem during those times too 🤦

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@ravenblue It's also the worst when my nipples feel like they are on fire from being hoovered for the last 6 hours straight. Yes, I will exhaust every other possible option before trying to nurse again because I will get searing pain on a very sensitive part of my body. Especially since it will...

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

@lovejoyhope My husband's grandmother said to my naturally thin 15th %ile 1.5 year old this weekend, "Enjoy it while you can! Hopefully you stay skinny your whole life!" Just... Why? Why do we have to do that? I just replied that I'm just glad she's healthy and I hope she stays healthy.

Do you think she's hungry? (Rant)

I have a 3 week old. I am acutely aware of the fact that she needs to eat every 2-3 hours. When she cries, I always think about when she last ate and try to see if she needs to eat again. But sometimes she's just crying. Sometimes she ate 40 minutes ago and now she's just fussy. When that...
