Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@dennisbon That level of overtime sounds rough for everyone! Fingers crossed that he's off work during the sports season - I'd push for him to take them most of the time when he's off, and you go to every other game or something. I can totally understand that the kids want you there, but...

Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@dennisbon If your kid really, really loves that I would be willing to do it for one sport per kid. I would also work to carpool with another family / alternate which parent goes while the other stays home with the other kid and gets quality time and the chores done / other options to balance...

    Did r/ScienceBasedParenting just shut down?

@zastari So far, every "Science Based" parenting group I've joined has eventually gone that route. The moderators get crazy about something and decide there is One True Answer, no discussion allowed, which is just about the opposite of a healthy scientific debate / discussion. Before the...

What happens to poor sleepers who aren’t sleep trained?

@cutin Because there are probably some babies who extinction works best for? We ended up following Ferber timings for check-ins.

What happens to poor sleepers who aren’t sleep trained?

@cutin We tried being in the room and doing gradual soothing, and then frequent check ins. All that did was upset my oldest baby more. She got incredibly upset if a parent was in the room and not picking her up to hold her, or if a parent set her down in the crib. Parent out of the room, she...

What happens to poor sleepers who aren’t sleep trained?

@dedebeam On the other hand, being woken up every hour and never getting REM sleep is torture, and chronic sleep deprivation for parents is a huge problem that can cause or worsen all sorts of physical and mental illnesses. Along with making it unsafe for the parent to care for the baby, or...

Why is Everyone Sick all the Time?

@7thunders The study you linked to on immune damage, and the study linked from the Time article, both showed a different immune response to the COVID vaccine before / after infection with COVID, not any general immune damage. Are there studies which show a more generalized impaired immune...

Why is Everyone Sick all the Time?

@lamourhjackson Same here. We had a constant stream of illnesses brought home from school last year, and my oldest kid had already missed 18 days due to illness. So far this year she's missed 2 days for illness, and it was a mild cold, nothing crazy.

What are your "do it all" life hacks?

@holyspiritleads2truth Accept that some days the goal is to have everyone still alive at the end of the day. Outsource whatever I can, work my 40 hours a week. When I have a chance I try to do whatever will make life easier for future me - get the dishes moved along, tidy up more off the floor...

Husband has concerns over Covid vaccine

@luvdreamsnjesus Good luck with that one. Our (generally very pro-vax) pediatrician's "helpful advice" to my husband on vaccines for our kids was that he was more concerned about getting our kids swimming lessons to prevent accidental drowning.

    “Nobody Wants Your Kid!”

@vanquy3009 I put mine down on a blanket when I needed an ultrasound for postpartum bleeding. Why TF they let me hold my baby when stitching me up in the hospital, but somehow I can't have him on my chest for an ultrasound . . . .
