@wwjd08 take emergency contraception ASAP. the sooner you take it, the more effective it is. if you can get ella quickly, take ella — it’s more effective close to ovulation than plan b. however, if you can’t access ella quickly, just take plan b. do not take both. it sounds like the condoms...

I’m scared of taking birth control because I don’t want to lose attraction to my partner. I’m also scared it might make me straight

@jcfg No, this isn’t something you have to worry about!! The original studies on birth control and attraction were small and poorly done. They were a fine proof-of-concept for bigger/ better studies, and when they did bigger and better studies, they found that birth control did not impact...

I’m on day 6 of lo lestrogen brand bc and I had unprotected sex, am I going to get pregnant?

@scratchybrushhead Yes, you can get pregnant unfortunately. Unless you start taking it during the first 5 days of your period, combination birth control is not effective until you’ve taken the pill for 7 full days (ie, it’s effective starting when you take the 8th pill). Take plan b ASAP

What temperature that I need to store birth control pills ( yasmine )

@applebee1344 Why are you storing them in the fridge? They’re meant to be stored at room temperature.

never been on birth control. 28 (f). periods are painful. don’t love the idea

@darrin71 Progesterone-only birth control is birth control that does not contain estrogen! It includes the traditional 3-hour mini pill, desogestrel mini pill, Slynd, hormonal IUDs, depo shot, and implant.

never been on birth control. 28 (f). periods are painful. don’t love the idea

    please help

@nannie12 Then you’re fine! The combo pill has a 12 hour missed pill window, so you didn’t even miss a pill. You do not need plan b.

    please help

@nannie12 What kind of pill are you taking? Is it a combination pill or a progesterone-only pill?

    Late period

@treyarch1 Ah, are you in the Philippines? I know that plan b and ella aren’t available there. However, plan b isn’t the only type of emergency contraception! Copper IUDs are highly effective at preventing pregnancy when placed within 5 days of unprotected sex, although the sooner it’s placed...

    Late period

@treyarch1 Don’t worry about asking lots of questions!! I’m happy to help. The only reason it’s recommended to start taking the pill during your period is because it’s effective immediately if you start taking it during your period. That’s it — it has nothing to do with the timing of the...

    Late period

@treyarch1 The combination pill works by stopping ovulation. As a result, you do not have a cycle or a natural period while taking it. The monthly bleed people usually get is caused by the drop in hormones while taking the placebos (or, if you have a 21 day pill pack, during the 7 day break...

@treyarch1 Are you currently taking birth control? If so, is it a combo pill or progesterone-only?

    Birth Control w/ strict parents

@jessica2040 A combination pill would probably be a better fit for you, as compared to progesterone-only pills, they’re typically more effective at scheduling monthly bleeding. They can also be used to skip your period. If you want to shorten your periods, a combo pill with 24 active pills and 4...

has this happened to anyone else?

@jclarkb Yes, stress can effect withdrawal bleeds on birth control! It’s also normal to just randomly skip one for no discernible reason.

    Birth Control w/ strict parents

@jessica2040 You could try just telling your parents that you need to see a doctor about your heavy periods and let the doctor be the one to bring up hormonal birth control (I can pretty much guarantee they will). This would probably be the simplest option, although idk if it would work with...
